I was told to drink a hot toddy: A shot of bourbon and a bit of lemon and honey in a mug of hot water. If you can get it down, it actually does work. Also, that Airborne stuff works if you take it early enough. Don't get sick, zig!!!!!

Unfortunately, the above "anti-flu" remedy is probably just myth. Consistently, various randomized-controlled trials have demonstrated that there is very little that can be done to ware off the Influenza virus, the cause of the "Flu". Various studies that have measured the effects of such herbs as Echinacea, Ginseng, etc., and various vitamins (particularly Vitamin C), have shown little to no benefit over placebo in studies.
Three recommendations I would propose are:
1)If you are in the high to moderate risk group (immunocompromised, elderly, health professional, etc.) get the Flu-shot. Though not guaranteed, studies have shown decreased incidence of infection and decreased recovery times in patients vaccinated annually. The shot can usually be administered for less than $40 at nearly any doctor’s office.
2)Once infected with influenza, visit your doctor. He/she may decide that prescribing Amantadine or Rimantadine (anti-virals) may be beneficial. Studies have shown that either of these drugs decrease recovery times by an average of 1.4 days.
3)Keep your immune system strong with a healthy diet, good rest, and plenty of fluids.

firstly congrats on your pregnancy, its a pity youre feeling so rotten. you should s/w your doctor about the aggravated morning (noon & night) sickness you are having as it could be a condition known as "hyperemesis" its basically chronic morning sickness and sometimes requires you to be hospitalised to stable the condition or attend your clinic on a regular basis to have a hormone injection to control this. it is uncommon, but doesn't mean you wont have it. the stomach cramps & headaches are all normal in first trimester, more so the stomach cramps if it is your first & these are put down to growing pains to make room for your growing baby. unsure of the chills, but when a lady is on her period her temperature frequently fluctuates, this can be common in pregnancy so could be happening to you. but make sure to contact your doctor about the aggravated sickness as your weight will no doubt plummet as a result, which isnt good for you or the baby. good luck xx
