Dear Talita Kumi,
Only trust the Bible, ie., the Scriptures. But you may say, "well different people have different interpretations of the Scriptures." But are their interpretations faithful to what the Bible is saying? Why, if you go to seven different "christian" churches--Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Reformed, Catholic, Pentecostal, Lutheran--do they have different teachings on how to be saved or what is baptism or is divorce permissible? The Lord only wrote 1 Bible (original Hebrew-Aramaic and Greek), so how come ALL these "christian" churches have different perceptions of the same Scripture. If one of them is correct then all the rest are wrong or maybe ALL of them are wrong!
God is not the author of confusion! He has given rules on how to study His word. First of all, one must know that Christ spoke in parables (Mark 4:33, 34). Since Christ is God and the entire Bible is God's word, then we must know that the whole Bible is written in parables. Secondly, in 1 Corinthains 2:13, The Lord instructs us that we are to compare Spiritual things with spiritual. That is, God gives us the definition of words in the Bible by how He uses it throughout the Bible. If you will examine these words in the Bible, you will see that they are synonyms for the Gospel: milk, honey, butter, bread. Thirdly, we need to make sure that the conclusion we come to does not contradict any other verse in the Bible--if it does we have not come to truth regarding that verse. Fourth, only the Lord, the fountain of wisdom, can give us wisdom. Therefore, we come before Him very humbly and pray, "Oh Lord, please give me some understanding."
The reason that there is som much false doctrine and teaching is that people are not studying their Bibles (John 5:39). Some of them are just repeating what they have heard from their pastor or friends.

Great question. But is the answer so cut and dry? I don't thing that it is. See when it comes to proof about God what you may claim as proof someone else can say that is no proof at all. That kind of debate gets no where and conveniences no one. So what does?
Can God be measured and if so how? God is Spirit and spirit is not seen not heard nor can it be touched. Right? To believe requires faith, faith is the belief in things unseen. An understanding of things not understood. How can one measure faith?
I don't turn to religion because religion is a game played my men to make themselves equal to God. They make rules to keep others out and only let in those that they wish in. I don't play religion. I don't always turn to the church for many of the churches out there are religious and play the game of religion. I read the word and look at the things of life from the spiritual point of view.
I look at the teachings of Jesus and I use that as the model in which to model my life around. Those things like putting others before yourself, treating others in the manner in which you would like to be treated yourself. Loving your neighbor as yourself and loving your enemies. Having compassion (concerned passion or concerned love) for others. Become selfless instead of selfish. Sound great doesn't it. Not easy as it sounds, it completely goes against human nature. Yet still it is my goal.
See one and claim to be a Christian but that does not make them one. It is by the actions and deeds of a person that you will know who and what they are. Actions speak louder than any words, they will either affirm a persons faith or they will condemn them. Here is where the truth is found. It is also where you can measure the existence of real faith. Judge the spirit of the person and see how it measures up. Does it match with what the person claims?
Same goes for a church, judge the spirit of the people there. It is real easy to see and feel. If you don't feel the spirit of love there then it is not there and get out fast. It is in the actions and deeds that you will know what to trust. Match them against the claims they make and what the word says, see if they measure to be the same. You will know.

if u mean by truth: existence and holyness then u can get to it in two ways, u have to use ur mind (think about the tiny things how their systems work and u must realize the fact that there's a powerful creator after all this) and read TRUE stories about old ancients and civilizations, how they died, what they worshipped (that will lead to many fine answers)
In case u mean the truth about God is things like the appearance or size or place or other physical details then i bet u won't find an answer becuz these are things much greater than the understanding limit of the human brain no matter how clever u are.

Simple yourself. Everyone around you can tell you what they think of God; but, the more you here and the more scholars and different religions get involved the more confused you can get. In My opinion, first ask yourself, what do you believe? Does he even exist? Then ask him. Ask God if he exists. But, don't expect an instant awe inspiring miracle. given him time as God does require patience and humility. Not because he's slow, because maybe hes testing your sincerity to know. and it may be just as small as a thought or feeling. From there the path never ends, but you still chose what feels right to you.

Better to seek for the truth itself than seek for the truth about God, you might have already ruined your chances if you are pursuing a lie.

Islam tells you to find God through yourself, not between anyother people. Look deep inside your mind and heart, pray, meditate, think. Then you will find the road to God.
