Cracker came from china, they used it to ward off evil spirits, but Hindu, may have use it on 14Th to ward off evil spirits help Kali Mata/Durga devi. Ultimately evolved in to various other kind that light up the sky with festive colours.

Indians spend, lots of money on it.

WITH PASSING OF TIME LOTS OF CHANGES COME TO CELEBRATE ANY FESTIVAL. IN THE BOOKS THEY HAVE NOT WRITTEN CHINES ELECTRICAL LIGHT, BUT WITH TIME THINGS ARE CHANGING.
