cats are much better. because you don't have to take them outside to pee, you dont' have to keep them fenced or restricted, just let them out. they can stay in the place longer while you go away for the weekend. boarding dogs is expensive. you can leave cats outside pretty much forever. they don't bark and bother the neighbors. they don't need to be walked. they are less labor intensive.

Depends on your lifestyle. I'm a dog person but living alone and working a full time job I did not have enough time to devote the amount of a attention to a dog that is required for them to be happy. I got a kitten and they're so much easier to take care of, they eat when hungry, not overeat like dogs and use a litter box. She's a very affectionate and loving cat and low maintenance and now I'm totally a cat person. Don't get me wrong, they need attention as well but not as much as a dog. Now if you have the time to devote to a dog then get a dog. Both are great pets but it depends on your lifestyle as to which would be a better choice.

I think it depends on you. I grew up with both. My second cat had kittens 4 years ago and because I knew I didn't trust anyone else with their care I kept all 4. I couldn't imagine myself without them.
My 4 indoor cats are very affectionate and I love that. I prefer cats personality's to that of dogs, and I enjoy not having to take them outside to go to the bathroom. And cats have a longer life span. I also enjoy picking them up and cuddling or having them lie on my lap while I type this. But I guess you could do the same with a tiny dog. Really I don't think you can say that either is a better choice it's all about the bond you have with the animal.

Both are great pets, but it depends on the individual as to which pet is best for him/her.

As others have stated, dogs require a lot more time and effort than cats - you need to make sure they have adequate exercise, so they need to be walked at least twice a day - even if you have a big fenced in yard for them to run, they still need to be walked. I think they are more emotionally needy than cats, too - not that that's a bad thing. But they need more of your constant companionship.

Both needs LOTS of attention as babies... kittens and puppies are destructive in that they love to chew on anything and everything. They love to get into anything and everything. But kittens adapt quickly to a litterbox routine, so you can leave them at home alone and not worry about whether they're peeing on the floor, whereas puppies require more attentive house training.

I'm more of a cat person, but I love dogs, too - if I had the time to devote to a dog, I'd get one.

I love my dogs but hate walking them when it's freezing out. And holding the door open while they go in and out many many times a day. I think my next pet will be a cat. I can live with cleaning a litter box, I think.

It depends on the life style you have. If you live in the city and are busy, a cat is best for you but, If you have plenty of time you should get a dog.

It's a personal thing. You have to experience them both to know for sure how you feel. I have had both cats and dogs at the same time. I love them both, but I just happen to like dogs more - but that is just my personal like.

I love and have both....

but cats are cleaner, quieter, more self suffecient, they purr, they are smart, they only mess in one little are...where as a dog starts off using the whole house as a pup and then goes to the yard where you have to walk around and clean it all up. ..

Dogs are more loyal, listen better, come when called, don't usually jump on the counter, and are always happy to see you....

I hope this helps....they are both truly wonderful pets!

If you want a quiet and independent animal then go for a cat but if you want an animal that goes crazy when you come home and follows you everywhere you go and will bark when someone is at the door then go for a dog.
