Was I out of line for asking for a girl's number?

Because i sure felt like it because I talked to a girl and asked for it, she gave it to me, then giggled and told her friend about it saying "I gotta talk to you for a second"....

Then they went in the next room. Then later on, she mumbled under he breath "Why don't you go ask for her number too".

Ladies, why was I out of line for doing this?

Well done dude!! From the way you describe seems like she likes you too! Seem like she's telling her friend because she's excited. Anyway if she doesn't like you she would have never given her number, so that you can be happy about. Next contact her, don't make her wait too long, start sending her sweet msgs to show that you care. But not too many, cuz that might freak her out lol.

No.This happens all the time when guys make a move on a girl. Girls NEED to tell their friends, they just do. She was probably just really excited that you asked for her phone number, probably because she likes you too. At least you were bold enough to make such a move, I admire that. A lot of guys I know would never take the courage to ask for a girl's phone number.

It sounds to me like she have been given the effect which you weren't in basic terms interested in her yet different women human beings additionally. If she gave you her variety, she needed you to have it. pass forward and supply her a decision and in simple terms have an informal verbal exchange.
