.If you want to lose weight quickly then weight training is the way to go.At first you may start with smaller weights and gradually start using a bit heavier.
If you want to lose weight then I think you really need to look after your diet and switch to a low calorie diet with fruits and vegetables. When I say low calorie-diet, it doesn't mean that you should stop eating or starve yourself. It means that you eat the right kind of food and cut out the oily stuff.
Running is a very effective way to lose weight, if you have the stamina to run for long periods. This is because when you run, the fat is burned from all areas of your body at the same time. You may start with small runs.
When you are looking to lose weight, patience is the first thing that you need. If you don't have that then it becomes very difficult.

First and foremost, there is no way t spot train a specific area of your body. As a personal trainer I get asked this all the time. Sorry people, it's genetics, the weight is going to fall off where it wants to and in whatever order it feels like. Women tend to retain their weight in the hips and thighs and men will retain their weight around their waist. For good ab exercises, you want to incorporate exercises that hit your upper absominals (regular crunches), obliques (any twisting ab exercise) and your lower abdominals (exercises using your legs i.e. leg lifts). Abduction/Adduction hip machines will work your inner and outer thigh, stairs and lunges will work your glutes. There are more exercise that will specifically target the areas you requested, but I would recommend getting a personal trainer for a more in depth program.

Swimming is by far the best exercise for all that. You your whole body, its kind on the joints, burns calories like nobody's business and its FUN. Add some water crunches. And water kicks
Hold onto the side of the pool.

1. Water crunches - back to the pool wall and hold on. Slowly bring your knees to your chest. Hold for a second and slowly bring them down again. 2 sets of 10 to start with. Breath while you are doing. Don't hold your breath. Slow controlled movements help build the muscle.

2. Water kicks - face the pool wall and hold on. Slowly kick your legs up and down. Make sure you can Feel the contraction of your butt muscles. Again use slow controlled movements and breath.

3. Side crunches and water kicks- face sideways from the pool wall and hold on. Bring the leg on the water side up slowly and carefully bend over to meet that leg with your free hand. You don't have to touch it, just feel the muscle contraction in your side. This also works the inner and outer thighs.

You can do this water exercises even if you don't know how to swim. Just stay on the side of the pool where your feet touch the floor.

You can also check your local indoor pool to see if they offer any water aerobic classes.

You will need diet and cardio to lose flab. BUT to tone those muscles, I have found Pilates, Callanetics, and yoga (seriously) to be the best at strengthening/tightening and giving a graceful look rather than a "muscular" look. And they're not too hard to do - you won't get sweaty or have to shower after these types of exercises. Plus, you don't need special equipment.

My friends and I could sware by 8 minute abs. You can find it at youtube.com and other various sites, if you look around. It will hurt the next day and you will see results in just a few weeks.

Pilates will help tone all of those areas. Cardio is the only thing that can burn fat, though.
