Catholicism was the first all-encompassing (Catholic means universal) Christian Church. It holds a few beliefs which have been left on the wayside by other denominations: the Eucharist vs Communion, the honoring (not worship) of Mary and the Saints, the acceptance of Tradition rather than Solo Scriptura, and a few lesser differences. Catholics ARE Christian. They are a subset of Christianity.

Well I do think there is a major backlash against the Catholic Church in AMERICA, allot because of what you can read in "All the Pope's Men" Which had 65 pages of what it the pope was doing to stop the Iraq war, look at all the anti catholic movies made lately, look at all the free publicity of The Da Vinci Code, a book that is listed as fiction that was made to look true, Billions of dollars of free publicity. Just hope it wasn't political. Has the Catholic church done wrong by hiding their mistakes? YES Was it VERY Wrong the whole abuse thing by a few priest? YES, I left the Catholic church some 20 years ago for other reasons mostly for shying away from organized religion. BUT you know as a whole the entire Christian organization has made MANY MANY mistakes in its history, very bloody ones.

I guess one comes to this conclusion because we don't call ourselves: Jesus witnesses! I shall let this answer you: We celebrate the day that Jesus himself instituted ie the memorial of his death. To the world, it is easter, which we have nothing to do with. When we pray, we do so through Jesus as this is what he and his Father requested. We follow in Jesus' footsteps by preaching from house to house. And that is only a few things we believe and do. The "core" beliefs of christianity is false! The trinity is an outright lie for Jesus is God's SON and the holy spirit is God's Active Force. What would be a great idea for you to do, is actually speak with us the next time, we knock at your door and then you will find out the truth of what we believe.

Yeah, "Catholics and Christians" is like saying "broccoli and vegetables".
The Catholics were and are the original Christian church. Non-Catholics, called Protestants, broke away in the Protestant Reformation of the 1500's, led by the monk Martin Luther.

Christianity is the whole of the faith.
The Catholic Church is a practitioner of Christianity. Although it CLAIMS to speak for ALL Christians, it doesn't.

Catholics are, by definition Christian. Their focal point in the mass is the Eucharist, which involves Jesus heavily.
