Some parents forget to treat each child as an individual entity and its a mistake. If they wanted clones they made another mistake. Each child is a unique individual and precious in their own very special way. Perhaps a parent does compare the child to a sibling because they wish to use them as a guide or an influence. I know its a mistake and parents need to have this matter brought to their attention. You are not your brother or sister you are you and have a different set of Ideas.
I hope that all parent can realize that it is a mistake to judge one child after the other.
The why is unknown probably even to the parents .
The change though can only come from the parents too
We all make mistakes and children don't come with manuals.

It happens all the time. Sometimes parents take their children in the wrong way, like a race to see whose child is the best. What the don't understand is that it is hurting the child, and the child should just be the best it can be because everyone was created perfect and is equal.

That is one bad thing a parent does that hurts a child the most and and some other adult should talk to them and let them know that it hurts a child to be compared. It's putting them down and no kid needs that or deserves it.Sometimes the parent doesn't realize that, they just want you to be good as so and so,well maybe you can't do that and it's not fair. That is why someone needs to point that out to the parents.

Humans often compare themselves to others. Some parents do this too. It is sometimes good and sometimes bad. It may be that they are finding how they can improve themselves or celebrate their strengths. It may be just to be sure they are respectful and well adjusted.

They think that by doing that, the kid will be motivated to be better than whoever else it is.
Its really not a smart choice. Nine times out of ten the kid will rebel against the parent for always talking about so-and-so all the time, and they develop a dislike for that person.
I'm glad my mom never did that to me.

coz sum parents expect too much from their children, and if they aren't be able to see those expectations, then, they will start to compare their children to others, like,.. "look at that girl, she's only 12, and you are 15, but then, she has much ability than you!!"...
it hurts!! ouch!! :-c

Oh, I love your question, it's quite smart.
That's true, my parents do that, too. But they only do it because they love their children too much. They want the best for their children and this protective nature can determine them to consider them superior.
