For women, a white tie affair is the time to pull out all the stops and be as glamorous and sparkling as you can be. Beaded gowns and intricately coiffed hairstyles with your very best jewelry are all called for. It is definitely an occasion to visit the hairdresser and get manicures, facials and pedicures.
Women:
White Tie attire for women calls for a gown that has to extend to the floor. Traditionally women wore ball gowns which consisted of a full skirt, but modern culture allows for gowns with a straight skirt. Slits are fine, but make sure that the slit of your dress allows for freedom of movement. Although you won’t be looked down upon for not wearing gloves, I still recommend them and besides, how often do you get to play dress up!

Women would be required to wear an evening dress, elegant and tastful. Never overdo it with sequins or frills. Or jewely.
Good colours are black (of course), red if the design is simple, champagne, dark blue.
Best to avoid "bridal maid" colours like baby blue or pink.

Long formal gown, or at least tea length. Tip: If you opt for the long gown you can wear cute ballet-type shoes with it and your feet will be comfy enough to dance the night away.
