My brother and his wife has a child -- she is 5 now, but I have overheard a lot of ways to coax a child to sleep.
The first one has to do with routine: establish a solid bedtime hour for them and stick to it. If you set an 8 o'clock bedtime, the children are to be in bed at 8, no ands, ifs, or buts. That way, they know what to expect and their bodies will adjust over a period of time to where they will naturally start getting sleepy right at the hour.
Another would be to start winding them down about an hour before so that you are not trying to wrestle them into bed when they are on a playful high. Some things like giving them a bath during that time, milk and a bedtime story are good ways to slow them down so that they can rest.

Routine.
A warm bath at 7. Every night.
One story.
5 min of cuddle time with a parent. Switch nights with which kid.
Lights out.
Stay in bed.
Stand by your guns. A routine is essential. Eventually, the routine will signal thier internal clocks that it is time to sleep.

Set a schedule...be FIRM...no slacking!!!! That is the most important. Establish a routine EVERY NIGHT...then stick to it. Eventually, they will adapt it and it will get easier! Hope you get some sleep soon!!

We had the same problem but we solved it.
Simple, don't let them sleep during daytime. Make them do things at daytime and they will sleep at night.

I went through this with my boys, I would put them in the stroller, and walk them around the block, or put them in their car seats, and drive around a little while, or just rock them face down on my legs, it worked every single time.
