With steroids its about how much are you taking it, is what matters. If you don't take it enough then its positive results won't show and if you take too much of it then you increase your risks. Besides, if you take it once and see its positive results then you will always be tempted to go for more.
Before you make any decision, I you like you to go through some of the major dis-advantages of steroids given below.
1 testicular shrinkage
2 blood from urine
3 your breasts may become like women(I have seen this happen)
4 baldness
5 increases the risk of cancer
6 infertility
These are only a few major dis-advantages of steroids, the list is endless.

They're all banned in the sanctioning body that I compete for and illegal for illicit use.Stay off of the GEAR man.
4 Androstenediol is legal again but has limited evidence of any true anabolic effects. It is a prohormone but converted into androgens in your body. The fact that it's legal does not mean that it's legal in all competitive forums. It's banned withind USAPL because they use the IOC doping guidelines. It may elevate test levels slightly but tests show it hasn't really been linked to anabolism. These tests were on mice and not humans. It is metabolized to testosterone as well as many other metabolites. All of these metabolites will be present in urine. Thus you will fail a doping control test, but may receive minimal benefit from its use.

NEVER EVER unless you want to be booted from the team or die at an early age. I was a big fan of the Cleveland Brown's football team many years ago and several of the players that I LOVED are dead before they turned fifty. Reason? You got it steroids.

I think the steroids are given to the patient as a last resort which suppresses the disease but in long run the suppressed diseases reaches the deadly stage. Many studies shows that blood pressure levels is altered. There are so many other disadvantages like they create a vacuum in human body etc; so they are not safe.

about as safe as sticking your hand into a blender at high speed
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA ) :
Reports indicate that use of anabolic steroids produces increases in lean muscle mass, strength, and ability to train longer and harder.
Many health hazards of short-term effects are reversible. The major effects of anabolic steroid use include liver tumors, jaundice, fluid retention, and high blood pressure. Additional side effects include the following: for men shrinking of the testicles, reduced sperm count, infertility, baldness, development of breasts; for women growth of facial hair, changes in or cessation of the menstrual cycle, deepened voice; for adolescents growth halted prematurely through premature skeletal maturation and accelerated puberty changes. Researchers report that users may suffer from paranoid jealousy, extreme irritability, delusions, and impaired judgment stemming from feelings of invincibility.
**** (my ex husband did them and I can vouch for most of these)
Long-term, high-dose effects of steroid use are largely unknown however you can look at the old school football players who have died from the "short term" effects of steriods
The biggest side effect is that you will probably get ripped off. Because of the tough drug legislation and the difficulty of getting REAL steroids into the country, most that you will find in your neighborhood gym are fake
