Friendly Hello, It is going to take sometime your your new dog to adjust to his new family. Give your dog sometime and spend as much time with him bonding with you. It is more important that he bond with you vs your other dog as you are the new family to him. Blessings, Kelly

This may sound a little extreme but if the other family lives near by maybe you could arrange for those dogs to meet at the park.

Give him time, he will adjust. Make sure you are giving him the same food as the other owners for the time being, and if needed, change the diet slowly once he has adjusted.

Call the old owners and see if he had a favorite toy, bed, etc that you could have. Also, make sure you know about his routine. He will adjust.

Buy him a bed some treats make sure he likes his food and spend time with him.Like take him on long walks or just let him sit with you while your watching TV.I had the same problem. If you haven't had him very long then its OK if hes still timid.Have a good one.

he will ajust in time, trust me. he won't totally forget the other dog he used to see and love. and it's great that he seems to like your dog u already have! take it from me, i had a similar (sorta) experience like yours

i had 2 cats and one of them ran away (named midnight) and it turned out that midnight had been stuck in our neihbors garage while they were on vacation and when our niebhors came back they saw midnight dead in their garage.

so my other cat (fluffy) missed midnight a lot after. but that was just a mourning period for fluffy and after that she got better and is ok.

so i bet your dog u just got will ajust to your family and dog soon

good luck!

I think its important you don't completely cut him off from his old playmate, still make sure they have regular visits with each other. Discuss this with his previous family.

Good Luck
