4 all the know it alls out there, i know that exercise & diet are best but the latest clinical studies have shown that diets fail as they don't look at the bigger picture, what happens after the diet?
I am fairly active, walk 3 miles 4 times a day to take my son to school, but i just can't seem to shift the excess I have.
Even tried going to the dr who put me on the "medical weight programme", that worked for a while but then it was just the same as the others I tried, I lose about 8lbs in the first month then it slowly comes back, even though I am doing everything I have been told to - you know - cut out crap/junk food/chocolate/fizzy drinks, and replace with 5 fruit and veg a day, take more exercise, drink more water, don't fry food - ect
I am getting married next Sept & I need to lose 2 and half stone, I am begging anyone who can help, to help
And no pranksters, a womens weight issues are hard enough to get help with, or even admit too, so lay off unless you really want to help

Like I said, I KNOW THAT DIET AND EXERCISE HAS BEEN SAID TO BE THE BEST, and I forgot to mention Weight Watchers and Slimming World both failed me horribly, I stayed with both for 6 months and stuck to the programmes religiously but I ended up weighing more when I left thatn when I begun.

to add to Steve J's comments my sons school is 3 miles from my house, my fiance leaves every day at around 5am ish - far too early for me to be getting my son ready for school to catch a lift, so we walk, then I walk home again and do what stay-at-home-mums do, all the household chores, cooking cleaning ironing ect then as my fiance doesnt return home from work until about 6.30 pm I have to walk the 3 miles to school again to collect my son and then walk home again, happy now are we, 12 miles a day, now like i said if you cant help then push off!

I completely sympathise with you, I've had similar problems in the past. Due to the level of exercise you are doing, I would suggest that your problem could be hormonal, or even one thing in your diet thats causing the issues. You may want to visit your doctor and explain your situation. It could be something in your diet that may be considered normal - wheat and dairy are the most common two - that could be stopping your weight loss. I found that by eliminating dairy for a couple of weeks showed a massive difference in my weight loss - even though I was eating normally other than that. Your doctor should be able to advise you on where to get free tests for such things.
Good luck with it.

80% of weight loss is diet. Even though you're trying to eat healthier, you still may be eating too many calories and not the right foods. Without looking at your food diary it's hard to say exactly what you need to do. I would go back to your doctor and ask for a referral to a dietician - not a nutitionist. A dietician has a national certification/license. A nutritionist has only taken a few classes. Also, you need to start incorporating some weight lifting. You keep regaining your lost weight because you are doing the same thing. You need to mix up your cardio as well.

I'm really sorry that nothing is working for you. I have been in the same position for soooo many years... I started weight watchers 5 months ago (as I have done many times before) but this time I guess I was just at the right place in my life for things to make sense. I have lost 7 stone in 5 months (no joke!) You sound like you are really quite fit already.. so I guess I just wanted to say good luck and that I hope you are as lucky as me and find something that suits you. Maybe try rotating different weight loss programmes a month at a time - that way you won't get bored and will have the kick start effect of them all. The good thing is that you have almost a year to get the weight off.
I think one of the things that has helped me is thinking that this is it now - its not a diet its just the way I eat from now on and for ever and ever (although I don't half miss the foods I cut out or down on - bread, rice, pasta, potatoes and cheese)
Fingers crossed. Have a great wedding!

hmmm....you have reached a "plateau"...how about changing your exercise, or adding something different like aerobics or dance to "shock" your body to start weight loss. I feel exercises like badminton are great especially if you already know how to play...
do add some weight training, even if you use a 1.5litre drink bottle, it's something!
Btw are you "getting complacent" and perhaps unconsciously eating more? If so start a food diary! And of course start cutting down...you'll need less food now that you're slimmer anyway. Good luck!;)

So I tried a bunch of diets in the past and they never really help. I picked up a book by the American Heart Association and it just sort of went over the right way to eat. How to balance things out. And keep in mind that the only real way to lose weight, despite all the claims out there, is to really KNOW the right way to eat and to burn more calories than you're taking in. Watch the calories, eat a balanced diet, exercise more.

You've gotta find one that's right for you. It's natural for a lot of people to try many different diets and fail. Remember, it only takes one of them to work :)

I hear nothing about sweat.
If you know the 2 major things to lose weight is:
Eat right and Exercise.
Then you know that if your doing one right, then it must be the other that needs more work. SWEAT. Its stead of walking, try jogging, can't jog, get a jump rump, don't like jump get an exercise time.
Burn the fat baby, you got a wedding coming.
So get to it.
