1. CareCredit.com....you can apply online, and they usually make very quick decisions. You pay it off monthly. Many people who told me their credit was horrible were pleasantly surprised to find themselves approved for $300-$500. Usually not enough for the whole bill in an emergency situation, but it helps.

2. Take something of value (TV, stereo, gameboys, jewelry, DVD/VCR players, mp3 players, microwave, etc., etc., etc.) to a pawn shop. Anything/everything you can think of. Just ask yourself which means more to you....your possessions of convenience, or your dog. [If you choose your possessions as being more important to you, then please euthanize your dog (and don't get another one) rather than letting it die a miserable death, or asking the human organizations to pay for the surgery for you.]

3. Get one of those instant title loans on your car or truck.

4. Same thing with payday loans. They'll give you cash in return for a postdated check that they won't cash until your next payday. They are all over the place in little shopping centers.

5. Ask your boss for an advance on your next paycheck.

6. Ask your friends and relatives to each loan you $20-30 (or more.)

By doing all of the above, it will probably add up to enough to cover the surgery.

Please do not put your DVM in the awkward position of asking him/her to give you an interest-free personal loan, which is what you're doing if you ask to "make payments" without a credit check (or even with one.) We DO want to help you and save your dog's life. We are not in the banking business, however....and there is a high default rate on that, especially if the dog doesn't survive. Your DVM shouldn't have to pay for your dog's surgery out of his/her own pocket because you didn't plan in advance for unanticipated emergencies, then 'hope' you will pay it back (when most people don't.) That just isn't fair to ask of us, yet we are asked to do it every single day...often several times a day. We simply can't...or we'll all end up bankrupt and out of business in no time. (We have to pay our suppliers, employees, etc....they won't wait until you make your payment to us for us to make our payment to them.) And if your own boss, friends, and relatives (who know you better than we do) won't loan you money....why should someone who is providing you a professional service (with very high overhead expenses) do so?

In the future, please start a special medical savings account for each pet, putting away $5 to $20 per week (however much you can....you'd be amazed how much you can save just by giving up soft drinks from convenience stores, fast food, etc.) It's also recommended by financial planners to keep one unused credit card stashed away for just such emergencies...both human and animal-related.

Good luck....hope your dog does well with the additional surgery!! :-)

I do have a list of some organizations hat might be able to help, but I don't know how much good any of them are going to be for you. You will have fill out an application sand then you're going to have wait for approval and that could take days or even weeks.. I'll list them for you anyway.

I think you have to end up asking if if your vet will take payments.

Good luck. I hope you dog gets better soon.

won't your vet allow you to pay on time? check with the animal shelter maybe they can help, some do. If you live in a state with the bottle deposit law, go out and collect cans and bottles for the deposit money, you can make alot doing that.

Call your local humane society, and a few local vets. They sometimes get donors for just his. Or, a vet may be willing to lower the cost and work out a payment plan.

Try your local humane society or if you live in Britain, the PDSA (Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals) they usually take a donation or will help you pay some of the cost.

Good luck.
