It took 2 hours to get him down last night and he gets up all night long, comes into our room and taps us until we get up! Help!

Tying him to the bed posts with rope should do the trick. In Africa, they screw a bolt into the skull and fix a chain with a lock to the eye in the bolt. The kid can't get away, and it hurts him to even try! But consult your local laws before doing this, because it may be illegal in some jurisdictions. America isn't Africa, you know.

You may not be able to get him to stay in his bed all night but if you make his room safe you can put a gate up or lock his door and he will have to stay in his room all night. If you choose to do this, make sure there is nothing he cant get hurt on. He will soon get used to the bed as well. This is what we have had to do with out 2 year old daughter. We just make sure we unlock her door first thing in the morning so that she can come down when she wakes up.

I found this answer in one of those pregancy newsmags--try spending a night with him in his room on a mat or comforter until he gets into a deep sleep. That way, he is comfortable and calm because you are in the room and it still gets him to use to sleep in his big boy bed. I would also keep night lights in the room and maybe even the light on in the hallway with your bedroom door open. Ask him, "son are you ok?" so as he can know that you are only a few steps away. Last, but not least ask him WHY he isn't comfortable sleeping in his bed. The best way to get a answer is always usually the source.

i had the same problem with my daughter and what i did was first put a light mobile in her room and at bed time i would take her to bed tuck her in and read her story because of the dim light she would drift off quicker and if she came into my room at night i wouldnt let her see me upset or angry i would just put her back into her bed and go back to my room it didnt work over night but by the end of the week she started to sleep in her own bed all night. she still comes in my room now and then but i can count how many times a month on one hand. good luck and dont give in....

hi there soozywell i have 4 boys and i guess eith the first 3 i had routine and infact their cots actually turned into single beds which was great but my youngest child was spoilt rotten and because he was a prem baby he was force fed as a newborn and therefore got used to being with me so i had a great deal of problems getting him into big bed but when i did what i did was lay down on the big bed with him and gave him a cuddle sometimes when i got up off the bed he would get up again but eventually he got used to it and knew that it was bed time i think you have to be tough but loving too, and try not to get frustrated. good luck

maybe he was not ready to move out of a crib, was he climbing out?
from everything i've read, just walk him quietly back to his bed, tell hime it's bedtime, etc. Do this as many times as it takes, even if it takes 100 times! Supposedly, it should take less time each progressive night. Good luck!
if all else fails, call supernanny!

The little guy obviously doesn't like being there! Let him fall asleep with you then take him to his bed. If he crawls in bed with you sometimes it's better just to let him sleep there.

hes use to the crib. Lay down or sit beside his bed and rub his back and just talk /sing to him. soothe him to not make him scared. Its still new to him and even tho he can get out of it. its still ackward. Just have a lil patience once he get use to it. you;ll go looking for him and hell be layin in his bed sleeping.
