you could take him the the pet emergency, but be prepared to pay a little more than your regular vet. it soulds like it could be his back, maybe a disc that has slipped or bulging. or if he has had any people food with fat in it he could very likely have a pancreatitis, they will stand with their backs hunched and guarded because their abdomen is very sore. if you dont go to the E.R. today definately take him to your vet first thing in the am good luck!

You best take him to an emergency vet then. It could be Distemper, by the sounds of his sleeping a lot and lack of eating and drinking. It could also be some bladder/kidney problems. But if it is distemper I would take your dog to a emergence vet immediately!
Does your dog have any other symptoms? Like a fever, discharge from the eyes and very thick yellow mucus from the nose? Those are all the signs of Distemper.

What ever you do, don't let your dog visit with any other dogs. It will keep your dog a little more safe and also the dogs around you.

So sorry to hear about your pup being suck :*( I wish the best for you and your dog.
Let me know what happens to him ok?

ADD ON*
I'm so glad that your dog is all ok ^_^ And it's better to over react a bit when it comes to your dogs health than to under react.

If your Yorkie is walking with his back arched, there is definitely something wrong. You do need to talk to your vet ASAP. He may want to see your dog immediately, as the dog could have a pinched nerve, or a slipped disc, or even had a seizure or small stroke which has caused some damage.

I have a Pom who had some seizure episodes when she was younger, and she did have to have some anti-seizure meds to get them under control, she would hold her back in an unnatural manner after one of the seizures took place.

One of my cats was not acting like her usual cheery and always jumping self a couple of years ago, and when I took her to the vet, she had actually had a stroke and her kidneys and eyesight were affected. She was also holding her whole body in an uncomfortable manner, and not jumping on anything. She has recovered now, but still has some motion problems and pain.

Any animal which changes its behavior, is generally having a physical problem; which they cannot communicate to us except with actions. Good luck with your Yorkie, they are special doggies.

Friendly Hello, I would strongly suggest calling a different vet. Reason is. Your breed of dog is susceptible to many different kinds of problems and anemia is one of them. So, this is what I would recommend to you. If going to a different vet is something that you can not do at all. Then, I would if I were in your situation. 1. Go to store and get Plain pedilite for children. 2, offer this to your dog. If he does not drink on his own then get a syringe and use it to force him to. It is imperative that your little friend gets hydrated. The pedilite will give him electrolytes he needs desperately. 2. Get yourself some friend hamburger and boiled rice. Strain and rinse with cold water. Offer a small amount of this to him. You really need to do these things. But most importantly I stress go to the vet today. Even if you have to go to a EMS vet and pay a ton of money. Because once your little one goes down to far. Sometimes you can not bring them back around. Blessings Kelly

Could be a kidney infection, constipation, or any number of ailments. Try to keep him on plenty of fluids, of course. It's kind of pricey but in my area we have an afterhours emergency clinic, have you checked to see if you have something similar? I recently switched vets but the new and the old both had emergency contact numbers/pagers for emergencies - most do these days. Yours probably does, too, and can advise you as to your best course of action.
Good Luck!

Well, since your vet opens tomorrow just let him rest bc maybe hes tired? Maybe he broke a bone doing somthing dangerous like jumping off a high place...So just leave him be for another day. Or you can ask your family members or anyone you know that has a yorkie and see what they say. Just ask around your neighborhood and stuff.

Wow, It has to be something painful. Have you seen his poop?I guess he might have eaten some object and got stuck in the rectum. If he whines or looks for his rear constantly that might be the problem. If you gave him some chicken bones or similar, do not keep doing that. Yorkies are too small for bones.

Sounds he is in pain. Has your vet an answering service that gives the phone number of who is on call or check for emergency vet services, most towns have them
