Because it ages and increased in value

Red wines typically improve with age, HOWEVER, the aging process generally needs to take place in the cask, not the bottle, for any real noticeable improvement.
White wines do NOT. Look for a vintage of 2 or 3 years previous for white wines - older than 3 years old it starts to head downhill.
Make sure the wine bottle is stored tilting down so the wine keeps the inside surface of the cork wet. If the cork dries out and outside air seeps into the bottle, vinegar is what you'll get!

it has a born on date. A good red wine can last 5, 7 yrs or longer if stored properly. Super expesive red wines can lasts 10t yrs. Cheaper are usually only good 1 to 2 yrs. If you dont plan on drinking it for a long time you should do some research or ask a wine seller in a good store. ( not your neighborhood convienience store)

Because the process that causes most food to go bad creates wine in grape juice. Wine has already exceeded it's expiration date, and for that we are thankful.

gets better as the years go by so no it doesnt expire the older the wine the better the flavor

Because wine is already fermented. Although, I believe that if left open, the alcohol that has been formed thru the fermentation process will evaporate, and the wine will turn into vinegar. If the wine is left unopened, it will continue to age, and the flavor will continue to grow.

wine does have an expiration, reislings and souvgion blancs arent good past like 5 years, after about 5 years they start to taste worse, unless u like that kinda taste. reds, mostly full bodied reds are good pretty much forever. whites dont last as long, has something to do with the color of the grape. the reislings peak at like 3 years

'Cause if stored properly! "On its side(So the cork stays moist) it will last indefinitly, If a bottle of wine is stored upright, eventually the "Cork will dry out and shrink, allowing air to gradualy seep into the wine and turn it to viniger, One of the things used nowdays is the rubber type cork, to extend the life of wine stored in say, original cases, but a true wine aficiando knows to enjoy wine for years to come it must be stored on its side! Hope this helps!~Chef~Eff

Because wine is meant to be "at ats best" after keeping for a few years - but, that does not mean you can nip down to your nearest cut price offie and get yourself a good deal - keep a cheap bottle of "plonk" for a couple of years and you might have made yourself a good addition to your fish & chips!!

Because it gets better the longer it sits out! Wine that you drink is probably 10 years old already!
