"If a man says something in the forest, and there's no one around to hear him....is he still wrong?" ;-)
You're a man, aren't you? So......
Actually, it is no big deal to put a pet's food/water bowl in the dishwasher. It's a psychological thing for some people, however....they just can't get past the "ewwwwww" factor of thinking about doggy slobber in there with their own dishes, despite the fact that complete disinfection is taking place. The dishwasher is actually better at sanitizing the dog bowl than handwashing. There's nothing to fear from getting any type of bacteria (or parasite...not sure where that comment came from) from washing the dishes together.
But if you decide to keep doing it, your wife will probably get the whole house in the divorce settlement, LOL. (I'm sure she'll be happy to let you take the dishwasher with you, though.....)

No you are not wrong to put dog dish in the dishwasher. A dogs mouth is actually cleaner than a humans mouth. Besides, the dishwasher heats up the water to a disinfecting level, I see no problem with it. Does your wife ever put a dish in the dishwasher that has had mold on it? I rest my case.

Yes after all the dishes are done. The dogs dish would be the last to go in the water.

Why is she mad about this? I haven't died from washing my dogs dishes in the dish washer. Is washing the dogs dishes in the dishwasher bad for the dog? Or is she just worried that the dog dishes with contaminate the human dishes? Dogs have cleaner mouths than humans.
Good Luck and Take Care

No! it doesn't hurt a thing. I do it every night. The dishwasher washes and goes through several cycles to clean and disinfect your dishes doesn't it? I think this is the best way to clean the dog dish. You eat at restaurants that have wash every John Q Public's dish together with the one you ate from don't you? Well there you have it!!!!!
Tell your wife she should be happy that you loaded the dish washer in the first place.

No your not wrong. we put both of dogs bowls in the dishwasher with our dishes. The hot temps will kill any bacteria and some of our dishes have more bacteria than their bowls. Tell her to consider all the stuff we put on plates or bowls when cooking such as raw meat and eggs. There is way more bacteria and germs there then on the dog bowls.

uh, if you handwashed the bowls, they would be touched by the dishwashing brushes, rag, etc. in the dishwasher, which is meant to kill germs and get rid of debris, nothing will actually touch the dish. i don't see why its a problem...i put my own dog dishes in the dishwasher!

Only if there was food in it when you put it in.Otherwise temp of the water in the washer will kill any germs.
Tell your wife the dishes in with the dog bowls are clean enough for you.If they are'nt clean enough for her then she needs to do them over. And hand wash the dogs bowls daily. If that's too hard for her then too bad.
Also if she keeps complaining you can always remind her that not everyone is fortuneate enough to HAVE a dishwasher and you can take it out at any time and give it to someone less picky about what goes in it.

no you're not wrong.
its weird she's upset.
The dishwasher cleans everything so it doesn't do anything.
And the Dog Food is food so who cares.

Your dishwasher should cleanse and sanitize dishes whether it is uncle Ralph's fork, 2 yr old Suzie's sippy, or Fido's bowl. However, you are married so she is always right. Since it disturbs her, perhaps it would be considerate of you to wash the dog dish by hand in the future. That is really a small cost for maintaining a good relationship.
