None of the hang on the wall flat displays are reliable yet.

The technologies haven't been proven long term yet.

CRT based displays have been around for decades, so all of the problems have been engineered out.

If you buy flat panels, either plasma or LCD, take out extended warranties or make sure your household contents insurance covers repairs. Once out of warranty, repairs are very expensive because the manufacturers tend to only supply complete modules rather than individual parts. So instead of being able to replace a £20 IC, the repair engineer is forced to replace a whole module or panel and these cost anywhere from £150 upwards.

As far as Plasmas, they are like any other television. They got bad reviews years ago when the were new, but now they have all the problems worked out with them and they are very nice sets. As far as the Lg product, they have a 60,000 hour life expectancy and that equals out to watching it 8 hours a day for 20 years. Plus they back them with a two year warranty rather then just a 1 year.

Plasma TVs are not reliable. First of all the most you can get out of them are 4 years, and they cost too much for onloy that little time. Another reason is Plasma is a newly found object and they just made a TV out of it, I would wait a few years, like 20, until they get more reliable and get more years on them.

TRUST ME! Plasma TV's should last for about four years then they should be re-gassed so they can work again which will set you back 700.00 but LCD'S are much better because they usually last (even L.G ones) 55'000 hours which is pretty good. So if I were you I would go for LCD or just go for cheap CRT (Sony or Panasonic)

Plasma tv's suck!they slowly get really blurry and when you get it fixed it would cost less to buy another tv.
LCD tvs are the best, especially a SONY BRAVIA,i saw one once and the picture was amazing.I would reccomend them.

I have had a plasma for about 2 years now and i've never had a problem. Maybe it's LG that's unreliable.
