I'm thinking of breeding one of my Chihuahuas (Either my Cream and white (possible merle genes) or a pure black) to have to joy of puppies in my life. Of course, I already have plans, and owners, plus plan to get them CKC registered too. I'm just wondering if there is any way (other then the gene tree thing I completely don't get after studying it for a while) or should I rely on what I know about both my girls littermates and parents?

My black one came from a huge litter of five puppies. She was the only black, a solid with white on her chest. She had one blonde sister and brother, that were her size (3.5 pounds at 4 months), a brother that was much bigger then her that was white with chocolate spots, and a tiny little brother that weighs in at half her size, that is a dark brown fading into black at the hair tips. Her mom was a black and tan, and her dad was a longhair blue. What a mix!

My other came from a litter of three. She was the only cream. Her two sisters were (continued..)

White with reddish spots, and white with a darker reddish fading to black at the hairtips.

I'm worried about breeding her a bit, because it looks like she's got a merle type pattern, unless I find a black or other dark color. I was wondering if there is any way to know what to expect for a color from either.

Any links would be very helpful too. ^^

Wow, that last answer... Gosh, I was just curious. I said I was thinking of, not going to do so. Either way, no matter what colors they turned out to be, I'd love them. My two dogs are my babies (they eat better then me sometimes).

I personally know the owners of my dogs parents and they are the same, really nice people and not your typical backyard breeder. I'd never buy them from such a place! Nor would I ever do such a thing to any puppies my dogs -might- have. I'd make -sure-, and know they would have awesome homes. Some people, geez.

Given the colors & patterns you mentioned in your post you could get a hodgepodge of mixed colors.

As for the "joy" of breeding..it will NOT be a joy for your dog. Breeding, whelping & nursing a litter is hard on a dog, especially toy breeds. They are very prone to complications, still births, nursing difficulties and have a high rate of emergency c-sections.Also before breeding you need health testing done (not just simple vet exams) and your dog needs to be at least 2 years old. You will need to know of any health & temeprament concerns in her background as well as the prospective mates.
Unless your talking about registering with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) then don't bother to waste your time registering with the CKC (Canine Kennel Club, Continental Kennel Club). These are nothing more then scam registeries set up by BYB/mills as a way to register dogs that weren't able to be registered in a legit registry or whose owners/breeders have been suspended from a legit registry for illegal activity, abuse/animal cruelty, falsifying recoeds, etc. Dogs/puppies/litters registered with these type of registries have worthless papers and it also can't be proven taht they are even purebred or have a legit pedigree (in many cases they aren't/don't).
Given the info you posted it doesn't sound like your girl came from a responsible/ethical breeder but rather from one whose main concern was just to simply produce puppies with out any regard to genetics or the breed standard or to help improve a breed but rather was out for $$$$$.

What ever the sire/dam's colors are behind them will be what you get in color.
Like to get blacks, cream, red or etc, both sire/dam had that color gen behind them.
