I've just met a guy who is perfect personality wise. He is funny, kind, has old fashioned values which I like, adores kids and is understanding and considerate. He's everything I'd look for in a man. The problem is he has a really bad skin problem and I don't find him that great looking. I don't know if that means he isn't right for me or whether I should give things a chance to develop and perhaps his looks won't matter so much later on? How important is it that you physcially fancy a potential boyfriend or girlfriend?

It doesn't matter what the person you like and care about looks like. Looks are totally unimportant in love. It's your love's heart that matters. If he has an honest and good heart, don't even care what he looks like. So what if he has a really bad skin problem ?If you really like him, you should ignore stuff like that. Believe me, looks don't count in true love...But no matter what I say about a good heart, you should always listen to your own heart and do what it says and of course what you think is right for you...

Seems like the problem isn't him, the problem is you. Look at Heidi Klum and Seal. Kind of like the beauty and the beast, but the chemistry is there and they are happy. You said, "he is everything you would look for in a man" with IN being the key. Maybe you should reevaluate how you truly feel about him. Skin conditions can be taken care of. I don't think it would be rude to suggest it to him. Maybe he doesn't know he has options. To me, looks are a small issue of a person's worth, unless they just let themselves go. The person inside is more important.

for me it depends on how severe it is lol... if looking at him made me cringe I'd probably have to pass. A skin problem can usually be taken care of! I had a bf once with a really funky shape nose & crooked teeth but otherwise was pretty attractive and I grew to overlook those things. Personality is usually more important though so why not give it a chance?

Have you seen the divorce notice in the newspaper and wonder why some marriages only last six months? Could it be because they had nothing to build on and grow on together in life? If he's not repulsive you may have just stumbled on to something here!Take your time and see where it leads, he may be the best thing that ever happened to you. It IS possible to polish a gem in the rough.
Besides, nobody will steal him away from you ;-)

Sometimes love can be blind to beauty and you see only from inside. But if it bothers you now you will have to learn to live with it till it seems the norm or you need to let him off the hook now before it goes to far and he gets hurt emotionally

Yes, you can love someone whom you don't find physically attractive. I've had bf's whom I don't think are really good-looking and I still loved them. It's not about looks, it's about what's inside that counts. Remeber, love is blind.

to each his/her own, but you gotta be true to yourself. Not everyone is considered dating material for everyone. They say love is blind, but even Ray Charles could see, if they're not right for eachother. Looks aren't everything, but they sure weigh in alot.

Definitely! Haven't you heard the old saying? "Love is blind."

When you really love someone, you will accept all his flaws...

Maybe you can take him to a dermatologist, they can repair nearly all skin problems....
