First, for all of the "quick and easy" weight loss diet pill suggestions, remember, if something sounds too good to be true... it probably is, particularly if you have to pay for it.

On Yahoo!Answers I find certain questions being asked repeatedly which is simply a reflection of new people participating. A couple of common questions amount to "How do I lose weight," or more specifically, "How do I lose abdominal fat?" I have gotten very positive responses from my answers when I paused to reply (and now beginning to get "It works!" emails that are very gratifying. I like helping people)... so have recently decided to put a good solid answer on my Yahoo!360 Blog (September 10) that I can point people to. These are my thoughts as a physician and athlete.

Don't target losing more than about 2 lbs per week. If you try to lose faster, your body will go into "starvation mode" and get very stingy about burning calories while at the same time very efficient about storing any calories that you do provide. And it will make you feel awful.

There is no site specific way of losing fat... the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn't true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. More on that below.

The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.

Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.

To lose a pound of fat, you need to eliminate about 3500 calories. You can do this by burning more with exercise or by modifying your diet to reduce intake. If you do a Google search on say, "swimming calories" you will quickly find a website with tables of calories burned for a given exercise. You can use such lists to estimate how many calories you are burning up with your routine.

For diet, keep a diary for a couple of weeks counting calories, grams of protein, and grams of fat intake. It is easy with online sources of nutritional information (type the name of the food and calories into the Google search engine) and packaging labels. That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet.

Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn't overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further.

There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about "How to get a six-pack?" The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat... abdominal muscles will form in the position that you work them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the "core is active" which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive.

If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets.

To loose weight, you have to make up your mind that your are going to change your life. you old habits about the way you eat needs to change. You don't want to loose weight fast. This will slow your metabolism and with too fast a weight loss you just gain it all back and then some. You want to start slowly. Follow a 1200 calorie diet, look on the labels of things you eat. Cut out anything that has sugar or flour. This works! Dr. Gott recommends this all the time in the newspaper and from the people who right in saying thanks for the lbs they have lost..it helps. Also don't buy any processed foods if you can help it. Stick to the outside Ilse's of your grocery store. Buy veggies, fruit, a little dairy cheese cottage cheese and meat. More fish and chicken than red meat. No more junk food just once in a while if you have been following your new lifestyle of eating once in a while you can splurge an have a pc of cake or a muffin. Pick up a calorie counter book or a carb counter book. Try to stay around 1200 calories a day or 45-50 grams of carbohydrate a meal. Good luck in your venture.

Belly dancing is fun exercise that you can buy a video and practice in your bedroom with the door shut. You need at least 800 calories a day and some sort of vegetable to maintain metabolism, so the rice would be okay as long as it reached 800 calories and she included either a carrot or celery or broccli or something of the sort. Several times a day is better than 2. And if she only drinks water, and lots of water, she will lose weight. Make sure she uses firming lotion while she loses weight or she will be saggy for a while. Expect to lose 4lbs a week at most, and by next summer she will be in a bikini.

There is no way to lose weight fast, except for stomach surgery. The only tried and true way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more. Eat healthy food and make exercise be just a normal part of your day. For example: park further from the store and walk, take the stairs instead of the elevator, garden, clean the house. Going to the gym is not much fun over the long term.
Remember that being fat is a voluntary choice.

Liposuction of course... OK, that's really expensive.
Start smoking and washing down diet pills with Red Bull... OK, that will work, but it will put you in an early grave.
It's really just simple math: burn more calories than you are taking in. Try this (it takes a lot of self control, but will work fairly quickly):
-Eat less fat and sugar and drink more water (always order water and skip dessert).
-If possible, eat 5-6 smaller meals instead of 3 larger ones (this will raise your metabolism).
-Do 20+ minutes of cardio before breakfast most mornings (anything that will raise your heart rate will do).
-Work out with weights 3 times a week (if you can't afford a gym membership, just buy some dumbbells).
-Get 6-8 hours of sleep every night (preferably 8).
-Start drinking green tea and taking a multi-vitamin every day (recent scientific research suggests that green tea has potent fat-burning properties).
-Be consistent! Most people don't have the time or self-control to really get in shape and lose weight. Working out can be boring at first, but the more you do it, the more you see results, and the more you want to do it. Good luck.

fastly?
you didnt say how tall she is.
loosing weight fast is not safe unless supervised by a doctor. 2-3 pounds a week is good. at the start she may loose more than that but you don't want to get too extreme. most people that loose weight fast, gain it back even faster!
if She is 100 pounds over weight, depending on her age, she would prob be able to get gastric bypass surgery.

she is going to have to get UNLAZY and start doing SOMETHING! start with walking! its easy and free! start out with a half mile a day if she is that out of shape. also, light free weights to start to tone her. 1-2 lbs each.

she needs to eat more than a spoonfull of rice. she can become malnourished doing that! she needs to eat some fruits and veggies everyday. stay away from junk food obviously.
also take a multi vitiman everyday

I really to advise her to see a doctor too though!!

Look into "Body Clutter" by Marla Cilley and Leanne Ely. I've heard this was a great way to deal with weight problems. Don't know about how quickly she will lose weight, but she didn't gain it all in a day and so she won't lose it all in a day, either. Good luck.

She might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout to use as well.

I will try to keep it simple. Your metabolism is basically the rate at which your body burns calories to create energy. So the faster your metabolism, the faster you burn calories and the easier it is to lose unwanted weight. To boost your metabolism naturally you just need to eat the right foods.

You can sit down and literally eat a 1,000-calorie dinner and yet be absolutely starving just a few hours later and the reason is simple: Because your body didnt get what it needed in those 1,000 calories so it sends signals to your brain telling you to ingest more calories and thus, the late-night cravings. That means that the surest way to end those late-night cravings and keep your weight loss goals on track is to eat a more balanced, nutritious diet that actually gives your body what it needs.

It's VERY EASY to lose weight if you eat the right foods. Check out Dr. Charles Livingston's video here: http://www.sexyjese.com - it will blow your mind.

you can't lose weight fastly. it will take some time. i understand the whole boring thing of working out. first off...you can't just eat 2 spoonful of rice with soy sauce. 6 small meals a day is having a healthy breakfast, a small snack like an apple, healty lunch such as fish or white chicken, small snack like yogurt, small dinner like steam something, and then a really small snack. that way you can work on your metabolism. small portions, cut carbs don't eliminate, and no fry..steam or broil. and working out maybe boring so try classes that she may enjoy and work out with her because it's more fun that way. you can do dance classes, spinning, aerobics. and she needs to work out everyday at least and do cardio at least 3 times per week for at least 30 min. you can even walk with her around a park or something, just encourage her that's the best thing. to make it even better hire a personal trainer at a gym, so that will motivate her more. good luck!!

Today there is too much information available on losing weight that has become more confusing and sometimes difficult to follow. It’s actually very easy to lose weight if you follow my weight loss tips.

* Be in right frame of mind
Before you can start any diet program you need to be in the right frame of mind. If you do not feel good about yourself you probably will not want to choose healthy foods. You cannot expect the act of going on a diet to make you feel better about yourself. The only way you can choose to eat a healthy diet to lose weight is if you have a positive self-image.

* Eat whole food
Top weight loss tips
Eat whole foods that are as natural as possible. When you eat whole foods that are full of nutrients your body will know how much to eat and how much not to eat. You do not have to count calories because your body is a wonderful machine.

* Eat fresh fruit
Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season.

* Drink enough water
Drink the best weight loss supplement known to man, water. Most people do not know the difference from being hungry for food or thirsty for water. A great deal of times people eat when they should drink. Most likely you will not feel as hungry if you are getting enough water. You will be satisfying the thirst, which is confused for hunger. Water also helps you digest food better. Drinking water before you eat will help fill you up.

* Always chew your food
Always chew your food well. Chewing your food well will ensure that you get the most nutrients out of your food. Getting the most nutrients will satisfy your body therefore you will eat less. Another benefit of chewing well is that it helps aid in digestion.

* Take small meals
Eat small, frequent meals in a day. Large meals tax your digestion system, making it work harder. Taking too much time in between meals makes you hungrier for the next meal.

* Include protein at meal
Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish, legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt.

* Shut off TV while eating
Shut off the TV whenever you eat – that includes meals and snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories!

* Increase your physical activity ( Cardio )
Increase your physical activity. Most people are over weight because of a lack of physical activity. Start walking more, bicycling, walks your dog for longer periods of time, swim, dance and leave the car at home when you can. It’s important that you choose a physical activity that you enjoy because you’ll stick with it.

*Weight training ( Light 5 to 10 lbs )
buy some dumbells that are 5-10 lbs and do some exercises with them. Search google: Dumbell exercises and you will see a bunch of useful links along with pictures and description on how to do it. When gaining weight but your doing everything correctly and see changes in your shape, that means you are building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat so dont be alarmed when that happens
