if you have given her the people food she has been hooked but if you have the people food put it away and get kitty food and when she is hungry she will be looking for people food and pick her up bring her where you put the food and show her where it is and see if that works if not your out of luck.

My overweight female wouldn't eat at the vet either. Cats get stressed out easily. That part is to be expected.

As for the people food . . .
I give my cats the very occasional treat of a can of tuna to split. They love it, yet I keep cat food out. When I got my youngest one, she had been given nothing but tuna, eggs, and lunch meat. I put a little tuna in her cat food to get her to eat it. It's tough, though, as she was eating around the cat food a little. Slowly decrease the tuna until it's all cat food. The last step I took was a tiny bit of the "juice" from the can. She's a little piggy now!!! She still begs us for lunch meat when we're eating a sandwich, but she definitely eats her cat food.

Perhaps the reason she is not eating at the Vets is because it is a strange place. Whether she is hungry or not being at the Vets can be a traumatic experience. Ween the people of the cat. Tell them not to feed her and get some kitten food for starts.

Your vet should be able to give you some advice. They have a canned product called a/d that is often used with cats who are not eating well. You can also entice her with some jarred baby food - just the meat if possible, chicken and turkey. And it is very important that you check the label on the baby food. It cannot contain any ONION or garlic powder. She can not eat this long-term as it has no taurine added which is essential for the cat. So if she would start on some of that I would gradually mix in some canned food, such as Wellness turkey or chicken with it till she is eating just the straight cat food.

i wonder what is the reason according to the vet ,that the cat doesnt eat.?
in my opinion the cat just want the yummy food like ham,and tuna ,chicken..
i have a cat like that,my previous girlfriend always feed her of the table stuff we normally eat.
but i dont do that,so after a few days not eating and meowing as hell, she finally had to give in,and eat the animal food that i buy her...problem solved.
but that only counts if according to the vet nothing wrong with the cat.

well - that is a tough one. Seems to me that you can introduce cat food (soft) to the little one slowly. take the foods you have been feeding her and mix it up with some of the more flavorful cat foods -like the pouches from meow mix. if you blend them together really well - it will then allow the cat to experience the food with out the fear. as well all know they are not ones open to change, sometimes you need to be sneaky. all in all - you want the kitty to eat, whatever way you can.....if you have to add a little baby food to the combo - it adds the scents and flavors they like while you are sneaking in the regular cat food.

If you are currently feeding her chicken and she likes it, continue to feed her chicken and then introduce chicken flavored kitten food. My kitten only ate tuna and too much tuna is not good for your cat so I introduced boiled chicken and now she will eat chicken cat food. Hope that helps.

According to my vet, cats unlike dogs will starve themselves if they do not like their food. Try to slowly introduce fish based moist cat food while still offering tuna. If you are near dollar type store human tuna is usually pretty inexpensive. Good Luck. having three cats i know what you are going through.

Leave the cat food out. When it gets hungry enough, it will eat.
