Forget the exercise, just start smoking and washing down diet pills with Red Bull... OK, that will work, but it will put you in an early grave.
It's really just simple math: burn more calories than you are taking in. Try this (exercise alone won't cut it):
-Eat less fat and sugar and drink more water (always order water and skip dessert).
-If possible, eat 5-6 smaller meals instead of 3 larger ones (this will raise your metabolism).
-Do 20+ minutes of cardio before breakfast most mornings (anything that will raise your heart rate will do: jogging, jumping-jacks, Taebo, etc.).
-Work out with weights 3 times a week (if you can't afford a gym membership, just buy some dumbbells); circuit training is great for burning fat (google it if you need more information).
-Get 6-8 hours of sleep every night (preferably 8).
-Start drinking green tea and taking a multi-vitamin every day (recent scientific research suggests that green tea has potent fat-burning properties).
-Be consistent! Most people don't have the time or self-control to really get in shape and lose weight. Working out can be boring at first, but the more you do it, the more you see results, and the more you want to do it. Good luck.

The best and cheapest is plain old fashioned walking. Walk thirty minutes a day without stopping. During the walk go fast and slow, fastest in the middle of the walk. Make sure you stretch before and after.
A gym is nice because you have the social aspect to motivate. So if you are walking around your neighborhood, find a partner. Definitely have music if alone.
And before you walk drink a glass of water and one when you return to refresh the body!

Do some kind of aerobic activity to get your heart rate up and this will help with fat loss. Combine it with weight training 2-3 times a week to make your muscles lean and strong.

The best exercise is pushing yourself away from the table before you overeat. It is best to stop eating when you don't feel hungry any more. Do NOT eat until you are full.
