You are correct, madam. We have the American Communist Lawyers Union (ACLU) to thank for that. Apparently, faith and demonstrations thereof violate someones 'civil rights.'
I merely told the truth, folks. The ACLU has filed suits to bar the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance because it mentions a 'nation under God,' and the wearing of religious icons; crosses, etc.,because it OFFENDS AND VIOLATES THE CIVIL RIGHTS OF ATHEISTS. Unfortunately, they won.

It's not hypocrisy unless they allow other religious emblems to be worn. If they permit the Star of David, or the Pentacle whilst not the cross then that's hypocrisy.
The school may have a policy against religious emblems. You may want to inquire. If so, and it goes against your beliefs, they you may consider an alternate school. If they are simply enforcing a standing policy, then it's wrong to consider it hypocrisy unless the policy is implemented in a manner that bans only certain religious symbols.

A lot of schools now are not letting children come to school showing off religious symbols.
I'm not Chritian, I love crosses, and I have a celtic one that my mother gave me for my Irish heritage, but I had to cover it up under my shirt, I also have to do that at work.
Look into the schools dress codes. They are not doing it to just one religion, if they are doing it they are not letting any student show off religions symbols. I agree with it, I had friends in school who were harassed by being wiccan. It helps cut down on the intolerance, and I think anyone can agree that cutting down of school bullying is helpful, at any age.

I would call the school and ask why they made him cover up the cross and not the others, then I would send him to school with another cross tattoo. If they do not give you a reason that you like call the school board and complain.

Say something! Your son should be required to cover all or none! This is why we are losing our youth to drugs, guns, and all the other things we see happening. If it was MOM they would have said isn't that cute he loves his mom, but Jesus no way! It's Just Wrong!! They are showing him he should be ashamed of his choice to love Jesus. Speak up for him if you don't no one will your his voice at this age.

Welcome to america ! It is hypocritical, indeed.
In Poland, when was ruled by a comunist government, the teacher took the children, after they finished school, to the closest church, to thank Jesus for what they had learnt that day, whereas here, in the so called "free country" you are not allowed to mention God in any way

Christians in Muslim countries have more religious freedom than Christians in the Western countries. In my country (Muslim country) Christians wear their crosses to school, work, church... anywhere they like, no restriction at all.

try it with a tattoo of the star of David or another religious symbol different from Christianity... if the reaction is the same then it's because of religion... if the reaction is different than you are being discriminated against because of being a christian... then you can sue

You are right. If they were going to make him cover up one, he should have had to cover up all.
