You can help prevent a hangover by drinking a large glass of water just before going to sleep. It's the massive dehydration (caused by lots of alcohol consumption) that makes your head hurt so much in the morning.

I've had to care for my poor hungover husband after a few late night parties throughout the years and this is what works best for him:

First thing in the morning, sip some water, don't gulp it down. Take a good multi-vitamin, preferably one that has a megadose of vitamin c. Eat something very light, like dry toast, saltine crackers etc, with a little fruit juice. You should start feeling better at this point, but if your head is pounding, take a couple of aspirins/exedrine and continue to sip water. If you're a morning coffee person, wait until you've had a bit more water to drink before downing the coffee. Though, many of my friends (myself included) start feeling better immediately after downing the coffee. HTH!!!

The best thing for a serious hangover is Alcoholics Anonymous. To make yourself feel better in the short term, try some hot tea, toast without butter (jam is ok), and two aspirin, if you can take aspirin. A good long nap after that should have you feeling better. When you wake up, drink as much water as you can, to flush your body of the poisons in alcohol. Your kidneys and bladder will thank you.

More booze = YES!!!

but try plenty of H20 the night before. also, an energy drink that replenishes electrolights is great before you go to sleep. try options like gatorade, energade etc or the equivilant.

and if its "the day after" and you feel like a bus ran over you and then reversed...

try orange juice and the greasiest food you can find!
Always works for me!

or heres the pro's version...

There are as many hangover cures as there are drinkers, but the best way to treat a hangover is as if it was a severe cold. Rest as much as possible, and rehydrate the body by drinking water. Sweet drinks may help in replacing blood sugar, but may also cause nausea. Avoid tea and coffee, as they will only dehydrate the body further.

Drink a lot of water, as the natural alcohol (which forms alcoholic drinks) is a severe dehydratent, so you need to replace all the body fluids you lost while drinking, whether that was going to the toilet or by sweating. Your body gets extremely dehydrated, which is why humans suffer hang-overs.

Other good tips for relieving hang-overs, is to eat a lot of natural products, such as fruits/vegetables, as they have natural oxidents which will help your body to recover.

Before having a heavy drinking session, you should try and eat a hearty meal, as that will soak up the alcohol quicker, which in turn lessons the effect of the natural alcohol on your body.
Which helps, if you don't want severe hang-overs the following morning.

Also, consider drinking a few glasses of water while your having your drinking session, as this will dilute the alcohol passing through your digestive system. Really does work, don't worry what people think, as you'll be the one, who doesn't suffer so much after the session.

Hope this helps!

Sleep and excess water are not good cures for a hangover. Exercise is the key. Go for a jog. Some water is needed but not too much as alcohol swells the internal organs and adding more water just increases the process. Through exercise the body works faster to dispel the toxins..

Water, and lots of it, before you go to sleep. Water is more readily absorbed into the blood stream if it contains sugar or salt, so soda pop, orange juice, sweet (or salted coffee) is good.

Your hangover is caused mainly by the lack of water in your blood after drinking alchohol as it leached water from your blood. Remember drink the water before going to bed, and if you have to get up to pee in the night, drink more water if you still have a hangover.

you need to realize that alcohol dehidrates every cell in your body. that is why you have a hangover, your liver is dehidrated!!!
SO, you are going to have to totally hydrate all over again.
drink a gallon of water( VERY SLOWLY) in approximatly 24 hours. also eat plenty of things that help your blood stream and your kidney function. lima beans, eggplant, spinach, cranberries, grapes.
eat healthy for that 24 hours that you are drinking your water, and sleep. gatorade is also good, but water flushes out the toxin of the alcohol better. let me know how you are feeling? k?
