The police in New Haven, Conn. have concluded that the 29 year old man who killed his 58 year old neighbor over a reported molestation had not been molesting her. The father, upon hearing from his wife that their two year child had complained of molestation by the neighbor, went next door and stabbed the man to death. The father faces murder charges, and the mother may be charged too, for filing molestation charges against the neighbor.

This sounds like there might be more to it, because what parent would KILL someone based on what a two year old said? And if they did believe that a two year old could be reporting the truth, why wouldn't they report it to the police and let them do their job, instead of taking vigilante justice, and apparently misplaced vigilante justice in this case. into their own hands.

What do people on this forum think of this man? Is it possible he became unhinged upon the mere report of this information, or do you think more is going on?

I am glad to see the responses from the posters have been reasonable. I have seen responses from other Yahoo Answers posters in which a generic question about what should we do of suspected child molesters and some have said they would kill them on the spot. Now here's some guy who did! Maybe he thought that society would give him a medal for being judge, jury and executioner!

I would prosecute this dangerous hothead to the fullest extent of the law.

You can't go off half-****** killing people for crimes that are unproven. I don't think this man has much of a defense even if there was sexual abuse.

He should have left policing to the police.

I think people can become unhinged over many things both factual and nonfactual. There are examples each day of such behavior.
Regardless if the victim had committed a crime or not, the person was murdered. It seems fair that the killer be tried for murder. Now as to the mother and what was reported, it seems to me that we lack enough information to make a determination.

Example: Two guys come into your house and kill your mother. Next day your brother gets a gun goes and finds the two guys and shoots them to death. Is he guilty of murder? Of course he is. Murder is murder. Only self-defense is a legal argument when someone kills someone else. And in the example above it is first degree murder.

This is a hard nut to crack ,,,, I don't have an answer I guess ,,,,, What the father should have done of course is take the child to be examined for signs of molestation and then act accordingly ,,,,, It depends on the guys temperament ,,,,,I wonder what degree of murder they would place on it ,,,,,, 1st degree 2nd degree ,,,,, involuntary man slaughter ,,,,,,temporary insanity ,,,,I doubt that they could make premeditated murder stick,,,, I don't know ,,,,,it would be interesting to see what they conclude though ,,,,,,

He sounds like a ticking time bomb. He should get the full penalty for murder.
