they do tighten up the tummy area. good way to do them..is to have exersise ball. sit on the ball..roll down so the ball is in your middle back... first raise your hips high, hold that position as you come up slowly and crunch (hands can be crossed over your chest holding a weight or not) do your crunches slow and presise. start out 3 sets of 15 resting inbetween. rising your hips will target the lower abs as well as center abs. try it you will be amazed. Yo work on you sides come up and turn to one knee 8 times and then to the other knee. and repeat the hole thing over. do everyday.

Yes, if done right - it is good and it produces results.

Make sure your belly button is right down to the floor and stays stationary. If you look around, most people do not get the method right. Do not bend your neck but do your belly. That's the point.

I carry additional weight on my chest to give it that extra umph because just doing crunches is not challenging enough for me because I have been doing it for so long, my body wants extra workouts.

So, yes crunches are good.

Yes, I believe in anything that strengthens your body. Crunches target only one area, though, so you have to have a full body program.

My friend Robert crunches on his bed. It's kind of gross, I don't know if he does it anymore.
