Contact your local council who may know of a club within your area, also newspaper and magazine companies

Don't know that the competition is specifically for students but try the photography blog - who have free entry to their competitions.

And the Photographers website also lists various competitions.

Failing that, you could try buying a photography magazine - but again they might not be specifically for students.
