The Bible says that everyone has a head: God is head of Jesus Christ, Jesus is head of the congregation, man is head of woman. Eve was thoroughly deceived by the Devil and God gave Adam first the command to not eat the tree of knowledge of good & bad. So God gave man the lead in teaching spiritual things to his family. Read 1 Timothy 2:11 & 1 Corinthians 14:33,34.
These scriptures do not demean woman. It does not mean that woman cannot be ministers. The Bible says at Psalms 68:11 that woman telling the good news are a large army. Women can make a large contribution like going door-to-door to preach the word or conducting home bible studies.

well, it doesn't really matter what you or i believe. in most religions women are the underclass, often considered mere chattel and so are unworthy of approaching God and performing ritual sacrament. even some Buddhist sects (non materialists) believe that one can not reach enlightenment in a female body.

humans are primates and most primate social structure are male dominated. humans remain fixed in this instinctual pattern. in most religions God is the alpha male to which all submit and the hierarchy progresses downward from there with women on the very bottom.

i think perhaps this is why Wicca and other Pagan religions are gaining ground. in such religions female power is respected and given space for expression.

yes, generally speaking, I do believe that. But at the same time, I respect some of the traditions of Judaism and Catholicism in this regard. I believe that women and men ARE different, and therefore can perhaps serve the community in different ways. I can understand some of the reasons that Orthodox Judaism does not allow female clergy, but I think it would enhance spirituality if they did.

I see no reason why a woman cannot be a pastor or preacher. In the bible there are several women who spread the word of God just as loud and proud as the men did. Mary Magdalene was thought to have journeyed even into France to spread the Gospel.

we must look to the bible for our answers. we can not decide for our self what we must do, other wise we are not worshiping God, but man. There has arisen now, as in the long ago, "another generation" that does not look with the proper regard upon God (Judg. 2:10) and consequently is "doing their own thing" (Judg. 17:6). There are examples of those who decided a change was in order and found out much to their chagrin that you don't change the Unchangeable. Look at Nadab and Abihu (Lev. 10), Aaron and Miriam (Num. 12), and Korah (Num. 16)

I follow a neo-pagan path and we have no restrictions against women serving in the position of clergy.

I get my beliefs from the Bible. the Bible clearly denies women roles of leadership over churches and grown men in general. The following verses should paint a clear picture on who is able to lead a church.

"A bishop then must be blameless, THE HUSBAND of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; " - 1 Timothy 3:2

"Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;......Even so must THEIR WIVES be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let the deacons be THE HUSBANDS of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well." - 1 Timothy 3:8,11-12

"Let THE WOMAN learn in silence with all subjection. But I SUFFER NOT A WOMAN to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety." - 1 Timothy 2:11-15

"Let YOUR WOMEN keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask THEIR HUSBANDS AT HOME: for it is a shame for WOMEN to speak in the church." - 1 Corinthians 14:34-35

No....I think women should stay out of religion all together. All the major religions are very male dominated and repressive toward women (if actually followed) and women shouldn't support such treatment.
