I'm wondering if anyone knows if Chinese Restaraunts usually have food with trans fat in it or if anyone knows a website that gives a trans fat list of most traditional dishes served at the restaraunts.

Chinese cooking includes many styles but the bulk of it can be called "stir fry". This results in food that contains a moderate amount of fat or oil.

Most Chinese restaurants in China and in western countries use oils that are rather low in trans fatty acids but this can only be definitely confirmed by a site by site test of the oils used. Most trans fatty acid oils will display a thick or gelatinous texture at room temperature or lower. I have on a few occasions found that take-away food from restaurants here in China will display this type of oil but 95 percent of them will have oil that flows smoothly even at 10 degrees centigrade. It is my unscientific opinion that Chinese food dishes typically contain low levels of trans fatty acids but relatively high levels of fat overall.

Salt levels in Chinese food seem to be a bit higher in northern China than in western countries foods but quite a bit higher in southern and eastern China than in western countries foods.

MSG has gotten a lot of bad press from those who feel they have a severe reaction to it but laboratory studies typically find no serious effects from even high levels of MSG. I suspect that either high levels of salt (typical of southern China cuisine that is featured in the Chinese restaurants of western countries) have caused some people to have bad reactions to Chinese food and this reaction has been unfairly attributed to MSG or some other component has added to stress results for those who eat Chinese food.

Most Chinese restaurants do not use hydrogenated vegetable oil such as shortening. However, if you have a favourite place you like to eat /order at just ask.

I believe chinese restaurants use peanut oil in preparing their food, which is very fatty. Also alot of salt and MSG is used and that is REALLY bad for you. It tastes so good, but I did quit eating in chinese restaurants.

uhhhhhh yeah! almost anything that taste good has trans fat and stuff, and besides i know for a fact

All greasy and deep fried dishes will be rich in transfats.
