Around 1903 in New Orleans -- musicians were street players. They were good enough that the local cathouses invited them inside to draw that crowd into the 'shop'.
To "get jazzed" meant to have sex.
The association with the music and the sex trade put the stamp of jazz on the music style.
Even as late as 1960, musicians hated the name Jazz Music and would rather call it 'swing'.

jass, prior to 1913, was a southern slang term used for speed and energy in athletic pursuits and sexual activity.
