In the Qur'an 47:4, it says, "When you encounter the infidels, strike off their heads till you've made a great smote among them." And again, 2:193, "Fight therefore against them until the only worship be that of Allah."

It's not peaceful, unless they decide not to listen to those kinds of verses.

You can find similar verses in the Bible too (if you'd like to see some let me know, I'll gladly post them for you)!!!! You can't take a few verses and post them and expect them to make sense. What about the verses before the ones you've posted, and after them??? The Quran fits together like a puzzel; the verses after or before another verse help give a clearer understanding to the verse!!! You can't just nick and pick verses from the Quran!! This is just another sorry attempt to discredit Islam!

That is really the defining characteristic of the Quran and Muhammads life itself; IT INCITES VIOLENCE. It teaches that violence and oppression against people that dont believe as you is a good and holy thing. That is why, sad to say, that most Muslims turn a blind eye to violence or secretly root for people like Osama Bin Ladin because they are committing the acts of violence their religion calls for but they themselves are not willing to do, especially after tasting of the prosperity of western civilization.

Quran Surah IX:29 Fight against such of those who have been given the scripture (Christians and Jews) as believe not in Allah nor the last day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by his messenger, and follow not the religion of truth until they pay the tribute readily being brought low.

salam alikoum, (which means in arabic peace upon u people) here I am, I am a muslim man who's living in an islamic world.

first,I'll talk to the person who asked the question.
I 'll tell u one thing, if the main goal of ur question is to know really more about Islam and that u don't want to hurt muslim people for free, then I'll advice u to read Koran entirely with explainations of his hidden meanings (cose even we muslims need to understand more about this Book), after that read about history and philosophy of Islam, but consider reading books from both sides, i.e. from both western authors and from muslim authors. u don't need me to give u names cose if u could find translated verses, u will b able to find more if u want to, of course. but if ur intention is just to have fun on Islam and muslims, consider I didn't tell u anything. now, it's up to u.

second, I will talk to some people who responded to this question.
i notice that u people handle perfectly the technique of copy and paste, so u can talk about u want, and only about what u want. u take only excerpts of verses that comfort u in ur belief that Islam is violence. that proves ur bad will, that proves that u 'll never make a single effort to try to know about my religion, u'r free. but don't over exaggerate cose u know we believe in all other prophets and will never respond u by insulting ur beliefs. that's another proof of ur intellectual misery. this if u have any intellect, which is far from being evident. that's for people who responded.

No "religion" should be judged on the basis of one or two snippets from their written word. Everything (in ALL religions) should be judged based upon CONTEXT and, more importantly, how the written word is PRACTICED.

Violence, hatred, intolerance and killing all speak for themselves.

The Voice of the Martyrs

On October 2nd at 2:30 p.m., Lorans Wageah Emeel, a 15-year-old Christian girl, was kidnapped by Muslims in the Egyptian city of El Mahala Al Kobra, about 60 miles north of Cairo. The incident was publicized by El Tareek, the only Arabic Christian newspaper in the Middle East. It is reported that the abductors are trying to force Lorans, a student of Saida Nafesa High School in El Mahalla Al Kobra, to deny Christ and accept Islam.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Cairo time, on October 3rd, the Emeel family gathered around the El Mahala Al Kobra police station, pleading with the officers to return Lorans to them. Her parents accused a Muslim man of kidnapping their daughter at 2:30 in the afternoon and filed a police report at the station.

Under the cover of night at 10:00 on October 3rd, kidnapped Christian teenager, Lorans, managed to escape from her Muslim captors, who drugged and threatened to rape her if she refused Islam, before abducting her from a public bus, according to Compass Direct. While the terrorists were taking a break from a Ramadan fast, Lorans broke out of her detention room located in Helwan, a suburb just south of Cairo. It is also reported that Lorans’ father received the following text messages during the abduction: “The girl is not accepting easily, but she will embrace Islam for sure,” and “Take the rest of your daughters and leave the city, or you will lose them one by one.” Prior to reuniting with her family, State Security Investigation officials told Lorans that if she did not deny the kidnapping, she would never see her parents again.

The kidnapping of Christian teenage girls in Muslim nations has reached into the thousands. Many are forced through physical violence to convert to Islam. Other girls are often lured into becoming Muslims with promises of material wealth. The Voice of the Martyrs sponsors safe houses in Islamic countries to protect Christian teenage girls who have been threatened with or have escaped from abduction. These Christian refuges are also places where young women learn job skills and receive spiritual training.

It is a good thing that Islam is a religion of peace. I would not want to see it if it were of hate.

This is more proof, if there is any needed, to show that Islam is not of the one and only true God. The God of love through His Son Jesus Christ.

There are many people in the United States that are turning to the Islam faith. This is the work of the devil himself. The devil will do anything to pull people away from true salvation of Jesus Christ.

Being politically correct is not always in our best interest. We need to say it like it is.

If Islam is trully a religion of peace, where is the peace?

I do not want the response, well these are extreme muslims. With our faith in Christ we have many, many different organizations. Yes, and some called extreme. But what we do not have is the violence, the killing, the kidnappings, the beheadings, on, and on, and on. Without regard for any human life at all. Men, Women, children, old, young, cripled, it does not matter to them.

Muslims even use human shields by putting their rockets and militia in and around homes of suvilians.

Any one that has a lick of sense can see through the peaceable religion part.

I call for all Muslims to turn to Jesus Christ and become saved through Him so that they may obtain everlasting life without having to kill themselves.

Turn to peace and love for others no matter who they might be. It is the only way.

Try it you'll like it, you'll love it!

It is not a religion of peace. It is not a religion. It is the babbling of a drunken sod who wanted to make himself look good. Read the book, "The Truth About Mohamed." It tells what I have been saying for years. He wanted his daughter-in-law, so he took her. He wanted a nine year old girl, so he took HER. He mostly wanted a few boys, but didn't write about that.

its revealed when muslims where fighted by infedles
60:9 Allah only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you for (your) Faith, and drive you out of your homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong.

Shall I now find such places in the Bible? I won't. I have found people like you --------well, you can make them touch, smell, taste, and they still will not believe. So, why should I try? Bigots are bigots.
