Ah, the days of corporal punishment. I remember my mom having to sign a consent form for it when I was in grade school. Sometimes I think it would still be a good thing but some people would probably take it too far.

I say, give teachers a paddle and it would solve many problems in schools today. Considering there are too many kids who get *nada* correction at home, the eight hours spent in school is the only character education they get, paddling shouldn't be limited to just the kids - I know many parents who need a good, swift kick in the rear themselves.

Dear God:

Why didn't you save the school children at ...

Reply:

Dear Concerned Student:

I am not allowed in schools.

Sincerely,

God

----------------------------------------------------------

How did this get started?...

-----------------

Let's see,
I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained
she didn't want any prayer in our schools.

And we said, OK..

------------------

Then,
someone said you better not read the Bible in school,
the Bible that says
"thou shalt not kill,
thou shalt not steal,
and love your neighbors as yourself,"

And we said, OK...

-----------------

Dr. Benjamin Spock said
we shouldn't spank our chhildren
when they misbehaved
because their little personalities
would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem.

And we said,
an expert should know what he's talking about
so we won't spank them anymore..

------------------

Then someone said
teachers and principals better not
discipline our children when they misbehave.
And the school administrators said
no faculty member in this school
better touch a student when they misbehave
because we don't want any bad publicity,
and we surely don't want to be sued.

And we accepted their reasoning...

------------------

Then someone said,
let's let our daughters have abortions if they want,
and they won't even have to tell their parents.

And we said, that's a grand idea...

------------------

Then some wise school board member said,
since boys will be boys
and they're going to do it anyway,
let's give our sons all the condoms they want,
so they can have all the fun they desire,
and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school.

And we said, that's another great idea...

------------------

Then some of our top elected officials said
it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs.

And we said,
it doesn't matter what anybody,
including the President,
does in private as long as we have jobs and the economy is good....

------------------

And someone else took that appreciation a step further
and published pictures of nude children
and then stepped further still by
making them available on the Internet.

And we said, everyone's entitled to free speech....

------------------

And the entertainment industry said,
let's make TV shows and movies that promote
profanity, violence and illicit sex...
And let's record music that encourages
rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes...

And we said,
it's just entertainment
and it has no adverse effect
and nobody takes it seriously anyway,
so go right ahead.

------------------

Now we're asking ourselves
why our children have no conscience,
why they don't know right from wrong,
and why it doesn't bother them to
kill strangers, classmates or even themselves.

------------------

Undoubtedly,
if we thought about it long and hard enough,
we could figure it out.
I'm sure it has a great deal to do with...

"WE REAP WHAT WE SOW"
yo-duh?!

Well ,,,, you didn't really ask a question ,,,,,,,But teachers have NO right ,, privilege ,, or authority to put their hands on a child in a hostile or abusive manner what so ever ,,,,, You didn't mention what resulted from this,,,,, but what should have happened is that the person who did this to you should have been turned in immediately to the dean or principle of the school and the civil authorities and charges should have been leveled against this person and the school it's self ,,,,,, There are proper ways and legal corrective measures that can be used to handle children without physical abuse ,,,,,She has no right what so ever to vent her temper or frustrations out on any child ,,,,, She was totally out of line doing this ,,,,,If a person like this hasn't got the temperament to deal with the every day stress of dealing with children then they shouldn't have a job that involves children at all,,,,, and she is damned lucky that I wasn't your parent ,,,,, I would have not only seen to it that she lost her job ,,,, but drummed out of the educational profession permanently ,,,,,, I don't know if you have children or not but if and when you do ,,, you might remember what I told you here ,,,, No one ,, teachers included have any legal right what so ever to touch your child with the intentions to abuse them ,,,,,, And this is something you should act on immediately if it ever does take place ,,,,

When I was in the 2nd grade in 1976, I talked out of turn in class and during recess I had to stay in the classroom. My teacher had me put my hand down flat on her desk and she proceeded to hit me on the top of my hand 2 times with a wooden ruler. I will never forget it. Yes children these days need more spankings.

I doubt that happened in the 70s since corpral punishment has been illegal in schools since the early 60s. She would have been fired had she spanked you in the 70s...

I got whacked for chewing gum in class. If they would have kept this going in the schools it just might have helped some of the crap that goes on in there today.
That's just my opinion!

Yes, many of us long for the good old days. The less the risk of punishment, the worse the behavior will be.
