When one suffers the pain of responsibility for ones action and understands the consequences for the first time. Some people go from child to adult at a very young age, others (sadly) take well into the lives to make that leap...

Many people consider an child comes of age at 13. I personally do not think a child is fully an adult until they have learned how to make appropritae decisions for themselves and can be a productive member of society instead of relying on others for everything. For some children that happens earlier in life when they through cicrcumstances beyond their control they have been forced to grow up and assume an adult role. Some never reach the adult maturity level at all. It is all different for each individual.

age does help, but I'm telling you I've found 44 year old men with teen minds who never 'grew up' yet have the responsibility and powers of an adult and are very dangerous people
I've also seen boys/girls become forced to face adult issues and "grow up" way too fast and have to later in life cover the same grounds in other ways, thanks to adversity
going from a child to an adult is when they assume responsibility for thier actions and can support themselves for at least 3 years without coming back home

Growing old isn't optional, growing up is. I believe that a man is considered an adult when he is old enough to recieve the Aaronic Priesthood, that's responibility. Age 12. Ladies are 12 also.

It has nothing to do with age. I know a few 30-something children and a few adults who are chronologically in their early teens. Maturity is a complicated thing, related to intelligence and the ability to understand the world around us and the responsibilities we have to ourselves and each other.
Many things keep human beings at a childlike level. Sexism, for one, where we role-play and try to conform to societal expectations of male and female. And organized religions certainly keep its adherents perpetually childish in many ways.
