the percentage of sex offenders the receive therapy and are actually reformed is surprisingly low. so i'm thinking that Texas is just one of those few smart states that use their tax dollars for better things...
oh, and here's an idea! would you want to be alone in a sound-proof room with a sex offender that has claimed to be reformed? or would you let your kids be baby-sat with a sex offender that claims to be reformed? personally, since i have a little boy and am a stay-at-home-mom while my husband is at work, if i had a neighbor that was a 'reformed' sex offender my house would be up for sale the next day.

California also does not give sex offenders therapy. It's probably because they're more interested in punishing than rehabilitating. Also there are many who believe that therapy doesn't work. In my research, the experts who work with sex offenders say that many can be rehabbed, except for the true pedophiles.

a better question would be: Why doesn't the state of Texas give sex offenders a lethal injection while they are in prison?

b/c texan prison guards need lovin', too. LOL KIDDING!!! It has to do with the price/expense of rehabilitation, I heard. Too much $$ for a project that may not work at all. The recidivism rate of sex offenders is greater than that of murderers.

I think it's been proven there is no therapy for that behavior, or at least no successful one. I may be wrong, but I think it's proven.

Costs too much to treat those who may never change with therapy.

There is no proof that I know of, of any treatment or counseling that can cure pedophilia.
