I have a deep-seated fear of knees. Does anyone else have any strange fears?

Spackler: I do have a thing bout my own knees. I don't like people touching them and I always think something bad and painful is going to happen to them. I wore shorts to play football yesterday and couldn't stop thinking about my knees because they were exposed and I could see them.

sorry I should have pointed out that my fear isn't irrational, I have a misalignment of the knee which causes my right knee to dislocate by itself, which is incredibly painful!

I found this:

"Genuphobia and Fear of Knees being the most common - the problem often significantly impacts the quality of life. It can cause panic attacks and keep people apart from loved ones and business associates. Symptoms typically include shortness of breath, rapid breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and overall feelings of dread, although everyone experiences knees fear in their own way and may have different symptoms. .

Like all fears and phobias, knees fear is created by the unconscious mind as a protective mechanism. At some point in your past, there was likely an event linking knees and emotional trauma. Whilst the original catalyst may have been a real-life scare of some kind, the condition can also be triggered by myriad, benign events like movies, TV, or perhaps seeing someone else experience trauma.

But so long as the negative association is powerful enough, the unconscious mind thinks: "Ahh, this whole thing is very dangerous. How do I keep myself from getting in this kind of situation again? I know, I'll attach terrible feelings to knees, that way I'll steer clear in future and so be safe." Just like that knees fear is born. Attaching emotions to situations is one of the primary ways that humans learn. Sometimes we just get the wiring wrong.

The actual phobia manifests itself in different ways. Some sufferers experience it almost all the time, others just in response to direct stimuli. Everyone has their own unique formula for when and how to feel bad."

This isn't a fear out of the ordinary...but I am TERRIFIED of spiders and daddy-longlegs. My sister used to dangle them in my face as a kid, and as fate would have it, the other night I went outside and put my jacket on....I look down, and there was a daddy-longleg right on my chest!!!! I screamed, tore off the jacket and ran inside. the next night, there was a black spider in my car (not a black widow) and I pulled over, and it disappeared. I got brave enough to get back in my car, and there he was again! Right above my head! I was screaming while I drove, pulled over and told some man, "there's a spider in my car!!!" He tried to find it for me, but couldn't. I sprayed the area that it hid with as much airfreshener as I could...and it never came back!
I will hyperventilate if the spider freaks me out enough. Maybe I have serious issues. I get the same way with centipedes!

I'm actually afraid of glitter. It really freaks me out. there's no need for it. I know why I'm afraid of it, it's because I was at this party once and a fairy(not a real one...the real one was on holiday) had a handbag full of glitter that she was throwing over people and a load went into my eye. Have you ever noticed as well that if you get glitter on you, you could stand naked under niagra falls, and 3 weeks later you'll just find it somewhere else on your body. I swear it should be illegal. I also know someone that's afraid of cheese. Maybe she was abused by a big cheese monster as a child. who knows. have you tried hypnotherapy. sometimes this helps to find the course of your phobia and may help alleviate (I cant spell) it.

I had a mate that was terrified of birds. We were crossing a square once and he was ducking from the pigeons, all white and sweaty. I was striding along saying 'don't worry, hide behind me, they won't hit you' then he reminded me how often pigeons crash into windows. After that i got nervous about pigeons flying straight at me because he's right.
One day he got home from work to find a huge Greater Black Backed Gull had fallen down his chimney and was sitting on the table glaring at him as he walked in.

I am scared of stuff under me in the water.. Like a few years back, we went to a public pool which is gross in and of itself, but I refused to get in until my husband got a broken necklace off the bottom of the pool... Why would a broken necklace on the bottom of a pool scare me? I have no idea.. One of those weird things our brains do I guess... By the way, I kept the broken necklace and used the beads to make my daughter a bracelet.. haha..

My fear isn't that strange, but the extent of it is.
I'm absolutely petrified of sharks, to the point where I even fear them when i'm in a swimming pool. Very strange.

I'm also afraid of whales to the point that I can't even watch them on the tv.

My girlfriend has a fear of porcelain dolls. She has said that if she's left in a room alone with them she begins to hallucinate and that they start to blink. She's never stayed long enough to see what happens after that.

My fear is of my girlfriend answering questions on my log in name.
