Can anyone help with funeral music choices? I realise this sounds like a macabre joke but unfortunately it is all too real. God bless you all. Keep well and happy. I am fortunate enough to have lots of wonderful memories, a loving family and a supporting church. M is with God and we all miss him x

"I Will Follow You Into the Dark" - Death Cab for Cutie

I think it is one of the most lovely love songs about a departed one out there today.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss - I wish you peace and healing.

i really pretty song for a funeral is now i know this sound odd from lord of the rings the song into the west by annie lenox it is beautiful it goes
lay down your sweet and weary head night is falling you come come to journeys end sleep now and dream of the ones you came before they are calling from across the distant shore
why do you weep what are these tears upon your face soon you will see all of your fears will pase away safe in my arms your only sleeping
what can you see on the horizon why do the white gulls call across the sea a pail moon rises the ships have some to carry you home. that is just the first verse and a bit of the chorus but you get the idea it is beautiful

I would choose 'As the deer pants for the water' so my soul longs after you. a lovely sweet song with wonderful music.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I pray that God will keep you and your family safe by his side and you will feel his presence. I think you are dealing with it very well.

It's all sensible to post a question here to seek advice. There is no pressure on the virtual world. Emailing and ringing friends are just different ways to get support and communicate.

All the very best and take care

Oh, my - I don't know what to say. I don't know you, but I am SO sorry for your loss. It is so sad...
For music, was there some artist or songs the two of you liked? It doesn't have to be religious, just heartfelt. Or go with something like "You'll never walk alone" -
I am very glad you have support and love all around you. We're all thinking of you, too - believe me - anyone who has read this. I'm crying, just thinking of you...
You had love from him, of that I am sure. God bless...

I have already told my kids that I want " I Believe I Can Fly Now" ( probably not it's name) and Wind Beneath My Wings"

I think we should celebrate the life that has gone. It helps us understand how deep our grief at being deserted really is and aids us move on to the next step.

I am sorry that your relationship ended in this way. There are no words that can truly help with how you feel right now, but God bless and thoughts and prayers for M.

first of all i dont for one minute think that you are lying cos why would someone lie about somethig like this and im sorry that you have lost the love of ya life but hey remember he loves you too and is probably sitting up there right now looking down watching over you making sure ya safe and happy soon (answering youre question did he have a fav song if not ya could play amazing grace that seems to be a popular choice for music to such a tragic occasion such as this one)
anyways i really am sorry to hear of youre misfortune and i hope that one day you are able to find happiness wherever it may lie in youre heart

I'm so sorry for your loss, I think you should disregard the first answer you had to this question, find strength where you can and if its on the internet so be. At my Grampy's funeral he wanted 'I believe' con't remember who did orginal but Robson and Green cover it. Beautiful words, still brings a tear if I hear it now. I hope the funeral goes well, my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

I would suggest the song "everybody hurts" by REM. the song may seem sad but if you lishten to the words they're rather comforting. They're about taking comfort in people and realising that other people are hurting as well. I hope this helps you. God bless

Heaven by Nanci griffiths... is to me the most beautiful song about heaven. I like to think that when i pass on heaven will be in my partners eyes.

think I'll go to Heaven
There I will lay me down
Leave all the pain behind me
I'll bury it in the ground
Maybe they'll talk about me
I pray it won't be lies
I think I'll go to Heaven
Heaven is in your eyes

I think I'll go to Heaven
I heard it's peaceful there
They don't allow your troubles
Everyone's had their share
And if I can be someone who never needs a disguise
Then maybe I'll go to Heaven
Heaven is in your eyes

People in Heaven never look back
Higher and higher the past fades to black
Maybe I'll go to Heaven
I'll sail onto the night
I'll watch as I set my soul free
Watch as my heart takes flight
Maybe I am too simple
Maybe I am too wise
And maybe I'll go to Heaven
Heaven is in your eyes.

I hope you find strength in the loved ones around you, my deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers are with you x

Hi im so sorry about your loss and i admire you for being able to ask for our help for funeral songs.

Im sure you will think of a song that maybe was special for your fiancee or you both. Just pic out one of his favourite songs, or maybe have a couple of songs.

My uncle and nana passed away last year, At my uncles funeral they had, Wings of Change by The Scorpions, and at my nanas funeral we had 'You'll never walk alone' 'Wind Beneath My Wings' You raise me up' and 'Everybody Loves Somebody Sometimes.

You will find one that is special im sure you will.
