If you have a logo, use that on the postcard first of all. I am working on opening a new hospital, and our marketing manager talks over and over again about the importance of a logo and "branding" of a business. It stays in customers minds. Perhaps for something original (just saw your comments) you could have underneath the logo "Where life is art" or something like that.
Then I would boldly place on the card (larger, different, bold font) 10% off your next purchase. People will see that and be less likely to throw it away.
I would then state something simple like this:
Thank you! We value you as a customer. As a token of our appreciation, please use this coupon to save on your next purchase.
Too wordy will lose them...people get junk mail all the time, so short and sweet is best.
