...yeah, I know someone will condemn me to Hell for this but I'm just ignorant & trying to understand. In Genesis, Abraham's son Isaac becomes the father of the Jewish people. Then in the NT Jesus comes from this line as the promised Messiah, and anyone, Jew or Gentile, who accepts his grace gets heaven. But God also promised Abraham's other son, Ishmael, that he would be made into a great nation. I THINK that Ishmael is supposed to be the Father of the Muslims??? If this is the case, why do modern Christians maintain that Muslims must accept the Grace of Christ to go to heaven? Didn't God form a separate relationship with the decendants of Ishmael, and make them a different set of promises? In Genesis he certainly seemed reassuring to Ishmael and his mother Hagar, not like he was saying, "don't worry, I'll make you into a great nation and send you all to hell". Maybe my entire premise is faulty, so sorry in advance if I sound like an idiot...please clarify?

Ok
He did say that Ishmael would be the father of a Great Nation
But He did not say that it would be a Good Nation
there is a difference
and it is not to say that Satan could have come in and influenced this Great Nation

nope is a very very very valid question. Abraham is the patriarc as it where for all the faiths... before himm noah, before him Abraham and so on.
Think of it as a river that splits into two being the Jewish line from Abraham to Jesus and the Muslim Line from Abraham to Muhammed (PBUT)

So is all the same water the same river only it slipts at some point. Think of the revelation of the Quran as the one poignt where the waters of the river get together.... So we are all one ... the event of the second coming of Jesus is really like that one big event that unites it all. Also the Quran says that We should believe in all before us all the prophets before we are truly believers and make no distinction among any of them...

I do not think any less of a Jewish or Christian brother or sister because our prophet came from a different line nor should they feel less of us Muslims. We all should unite since we all believe in God!

Awesome Question and it shows you at least read the Bible.

Ok here is my take on it. The whole of scripture points to the messiah comming and even the wise men of Herod told him when and where the messiah would be born; yet they did not go themselves to look. The Messiah was to come and rebuild Jerusilem and establish his kingdom. Well its hard to say that there is not a kingdom of Christ. Just look around. All are welcome in this kingdom Jew and Gentile and Arab too :) The Jews will not deny the Messiah but they do not see Jesus as that person. The Muslims have stripped Jesus of everything he said and everything he did saying that the whole new testiment was fabricated by the Romans and Jesus was a prophet of Muhammad . Much like saying that Khurbn the Holocaust, did not happen.

So we Christians are sitting here in the Kingdom Of GOD waiting for everyone to show up. Not to go to hell. I don't want anyone to perish.

May GOD richly bless you.

well! brother first of all ,i really appreciate u for trying to understand different religions,it's lot lot beneficial than being ignorant.

secondly, i agree with u,u r absolutely right.Ishmael(pbuh) was indeed promised by Allah for a nation n those were muslims, even Muhammad(pbuh) other name, Ahmad has also been mentioned in Bible too, that last prophet named Ahmad will come,n u should follow him(y they don't,i never understood)

Islam, accept all these religions, who believed in oneness of God,including judaism n christanity(concept of trinity was included in Bible in probably 1980's please do confirm,i don't exactly remember the time period it was added) so Islam believes on all Prophets of Allah(God) without difference, from first Adam,Abraham,Issac, Ishmael,Jacob,Moses,Jesus n to last prophet Muhammad(peace be upon all of them)

Islam is not a seperate religion,it's a religion covering all the religions

There were 12 tribes of Israel, and 12 nations of Ishmael.
!2 symbolizes something on a spiritual level. The only
division between any of us is in our petty, little minds!

Yes, it seems to have been proven that Ishmael has many descendants too.

However, according to the Scriptures (the Tanakh), God's covenant was with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and that through their descendants would come One who would be the promised Messiah (God's Anointed One) that would be the Saviour. Not just the Saviour for the Jewish people; rather, the Saviour offered tor ALL THE WORLD (for those who will believe and receive).

No you don't sound like an idiot, you are just trying to get things straight and that is commendable. I am a christian and no true christian could hate you from trying to find out the truth.

The thing about needing to accept jesus is that it is sort of a deal breaker. It doesn't invalidate all previous promises (covenants), it is simpy a new covenant that trumps all previous ones. It simply means that from that point on if you wanted to remain in God's good graces, you must accept Jesus. It is something that is open to ALL people, including the decendants of Ishmael.

You don't make me mad, Yes the promise to Abraham was given to Isaacc, & yes God said I will also make Ishmeal seed line a great nation, But that nation is NOT WHERE GOD PROMISE TO ABRAHAM, From the river Egypt, to the River Euphrates, Down to Dedan (Saudia Araibia) Now you also have to figure also Just as the seed line of Cain & Adam was 2 different seed line, & as time went on, those seed lines begin to cross breed, GEN. 6:1-2 and also did the seed line with Isaacc, & Ismeal as time went on, now we see The True seed line of Isaacc is now begining to return to Israel, This promise was to be to Israel at the end time, so since the Jews was scatter around 70 AD to forein lands, Ishmael seed could have estabished their nation That Once belong to Israel, & that God is now bringing them back to restore Israel. I can give you hundreds of scriptures showing you that Israel was to be scatter & then brought back at the end to THEIR promise land. And I can show you also many verses that God will now scatter The Seed of Ishmael. Israel will scatter them in the very near future, The land God promised to Abraham & Isaacc will be fulfill soon & all the Arabs will be scatter out of the land that God promise Israel, There will never Be a palestian state. Jerusalem belongs to Israel.

God promised Isaac to bear the line of the Messiah. He promised Ishmael to be the forefather of a mighty nation - but did not put the path of Messiah on his line. So, the cousins of the Jews, the Arab peoples, are descended from Abraham, but still have to find salvation through the one channel God provided - Jesus Christ, His only begotton son.

That is correct, only Ishmael's great nation is Arabs, not Muslims (that is, in a matter of fact, a religion).

As for your question: I don't get it either, and I guess that there's no logical explanation or sense in religious hatred.

You are exactly right! God had promised many things to Ishmael in addition to making his descendants into a great nation and kings. And they are one by one coming true. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the descendant of Ishmael. And as you see Ishmael's descendants (arabs) became many nation and kings while Isaac's descendants are still one nation (jews) only.

Unfortunately Christians and Jews don't want to accept this fact and they still want to believe in their altered books and religions. Christians are also made up many new things that were originally not in the Old Testament, as associating a son to God and taking up Holy Spirit (Angel Gabriel) as one part of God (trinity).

Good Luck in your research! Keep it up.
