if it is gold u MAY me able to leave it on, it depends on the individual centres health and safety rules,
I work as an MRI radiographer and as gold is a non-ferrous (magnetic) metal i am able to leave my wedding band on at work, but i dont go into the scanner, and the metalcan cause artefacts on the images as its a volumetric form of scanning, so we do ask people to remove them if at all possible and especially earrings as often the posts are a cheaper and ferrous metal.
Ifin ANY doubt ring ahead and ask the stafs advice, trustme they will be happy to advise u, and if u cant get it off and they wont allow u to go in u have saved urself a journey and the MRI team a wasted appointment
hope this is helpful :-)

Forget all the other suggestions, this really works,my wife had the same trouble and the doctor did the following:get some strong thick cotton put one end under the ring from the fingernail side for a few inches( get someone to do it is easiest) hold the end and wind the cotton around the finger on the nail side rather tightly to compress the flesh ,make quite a few turns and holding the end of the cotton on the fingernail side pull up the end on the wrist side slowly and as it unwinds down the finger it will take the ring along the finger and off . You may need a couple of tries but it DOES work (Similar to above but a lot better.)

I don't know whether you have to take the ring off - I suppose it would depend on what's being scanned.
Try using vegetable or olive oil or similar around the ring and keep twisting. Or when you go for a hot bath, soak you hand for a few minutes and the heat of the water should make the metal expand enough for you to get it off. Don't try and take it off on the day as you will probably be quite hyped up about the scan and so your raised blood pressure will make your fingers swell and removal even harder.
If you don't want to be without it in the meantime, you could wear it on a chain round your neck which would be really simple to take off on the day. :-)

only iron or nickel is magnetic I don't think it is a problem If you have to remove it do this. Wrap thin thread tightly around your finger from the end toward the ring, it will compress your finger so the ring will come off. for lubricant use KY jelly. it is good for other things also. Don't leave the string on too long.

No need to take it off. Non magnetic and wont affect the scan. Kept mine on but heavily taped up. They do need to know if you have any pins or plates used on you but they should have already checked you med notes, but they are human and you should always say. Same goes for pacemakers.

Try soaking your hand in ICE cold water. It might shrink just enough to pull the ring off, once you pull your hand out of the water, immediatly put lotion on that finger and PULL!

apply shampoo to the finger and slowly twist pulling it off gradually. GOOD LUCK...my husband had to have his cut off....but once he was feeling good again, we made a point of going out to a nice dinner, and a Jewelry store, where I picked out a replacement ring for him.

As long as your ring is made of gold don't worry about. You won't have to take it off anyway.
