Does anyone know if there is a Hostel in winchester or any cheap hotelnumbers would be very grateful.

I think you have a choice of websites you can choose from depending on your requirements. hotels.com on http://www.hotels.co.uk/ for hotels. The Smooth Hound System http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/ for find B&B's and guesthouses. The Youth Hostel Association http://www.yha.org.uk/ has its own chain of hostels within the UK (if you are going to stay in hostels regularly, become a member). Independants http://www.hostels.com/en/index.html don't require membership to any organisation. I can recommend Smooth Hounds and YHA - hotels.com have never given me any cheap hotel rates and independant youth hostels can be hit and miss in terms of quality.

I would recommend laterooms. The cheapest I have found on there has been £40. Not sure about the hostel option.
