Try concentrating on your interests (literature, art, photography, music, sport, outdoor activities ... whatever). Look for societies you can join in those fields. The most important thing is to increase your self esteem - to feel that you are a valued person (which I'm sure you can be). Friends are friends regardless of sex or sexuality and you are maybe going about making friends the wrong way. Start with people as people and the right person will come along! (Exactly the same thing applies to heterosexuals - once one stops looking for a boy/girlfriend, one very often turns up!)

As far as your self-esteem goes. You need to understand and tell yourself that you have things which you are good at doing and which other people will - and probably do already - appreciate about you. This is often an emotional problem, so this site might help:

I'm sorry you are lonely, but how about not just focussing on the gay aspect of yourself and just try and get out and about and meet people of all kinds and dont worry if they are gay or straight.

Why not do some volunteer work if you have time?

Take up a hobby. Do something you are genuinely interested it.

Ask the friends you have got for ideas, or places they can take you to.

Gaydar is a website for gay men to meet for sexual encounters but i think you should just work on making friends at the moment, and getting a good life. Clubs may not be the way to go at the moment.

If you are shy with people - ask them about themselves!

Good luck!

Being Gay is not relevant this situation happens to all shy people, have a look on the search engines for places to go in your town.

I really feel for you, you could use your internet to find gay clubs in your area, as you haven't added your area I can't do it for you. There are a few gay chat rooms aswell, go in there & I'm sure you'll meet more guys who feel the same as you!

I understand first of all, and I would say you can meet someone just about any ware you go. The key is to be friendly and open, and to keep you eye open for what you are looking for, then just go for it.
