The best Anti-virus it`s AVIRA [www.avira.com]. It has all the functions your computer needs. It`s free, or you can choose the Premium Version. If your computer keeps shutting down and you get the meesage: Your computer will shut down in: 59, 58, and so on, then run Start/Run/shutdown -a, when the countdown starts, and it`s going to stop. It`s not a virus, but a worm. A really annoying one.

It relies upon on which software has greater as much as date "virus definition" archives. Any answer is a wager. i could wager the av-xp is right except the McAfee utility is as much as this point too. reckoning on the severity of the an infection, it ought to be superb to leave it on my own. Anti virus utility has grow to be worse than the virus themselves.

I've tried AVG,NORTON and AVAST and avast came out on top.what ever anti-virus yr using just make sure that it is updated before u do a system scan. But for that problem a virus wouldn't be my first guess.Start with the most likely problem first, make sure all cards are seated properly, check ram it maybe fault, take it out remove dust and place it back.

Could be that you have a hardware conflict of some sort.

But regards anti-virus software - try panda activescan online, it's brilliant and free (but won't work with FireFox, use Internet Explorer):
