If you are going to buy a 32" TV, LCD, or Liquid Crystal Display, is definetely the way to go. I believe that a good 32" LCD, would be around the same price as a little larger Plasma screen. But there are downsides to both.

___CONS___

LCD is more expensive
LCD always has a small screen
Screen sensitive to touch

___CONS___

Plasma has a problem called burn-in. What happens in burn-in ~is when a sitting image is left on a screen, the Plasma ~molecules begin to burn to the screen leaving a permanent ~mark. This can happen anywhere from an hour to 16 hours ~depending on color and contrast settings on your monitor.
You cannot turn a Plasma monitor horizontal - due to the way the ~molecules are arranged and fitted, you risk severe damage to ~the screen when it is placed horizontal.

___PROS___

Plasmas now have built in features to fight the effects of burn-in.
Plasma is less expensive even with a larger screen
Plasma screens have around 71,856,287 more colors than LCD
1080i and 1080p resolutions are more common with Plasma ~monitors
Plasma screens usually carry a 170 degree viewing angle.

___PROS___

LCD's are not generally more reliable, but they will last longer.
Sometimes good resolutions. Usually 720p or slightly higher.
No burn-in.

___GENERAL___

Never place an LCD or Plasma monitor near a fireplace, radiator, furnace, or any source of heat.

I hope this helps & Good Luck on choosing your TV of best fit!

Plasma is much better and a I have both, I just bought a plasma for my living room and moved the lcd to my bedroom and the plasma is a much better picture in hdtv, however the cost is substantially more for the plasma and if I was going to get another tv i would save the money and get a good lcd hdtv and spend the difference on a nice home theatre by bang & olfsen. Both tvs i have are 42" and I hang them both on the wall and the plasma is lighter and thinner than the lcd.

You will be buying an LCD, they just don’t make plasmas smaller than around 42 inches.

As for which one to buy, take the time to go to a shop and to watch the screen you are think of buying (even if you plan to buy online). You will be able to compare with others and see the colour/brightness/contrast/etc for yourself.

LCD definately. Plasma will not last as long as LCD. Also, LCD picture definition is much better. It's worth paying the extra bucks.
