If she is not in pain or suffering do not do it, it is not fair. And she is already extremely old it not like she has a lot of time to go. Would your mom want you to put her down? Do it for your mom and because it is the right thing to do by giving her good care until the natural end. Think of all the years you mom cared for you and stick it out.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Chi. I also have a Chi of my own, so I know how loving they can be. They can also live a very long time. When I picked up my little guy, my breeder showed me his grandmother. She was 21 years old. I called my breeder just a few months ago, and granny chi is still going strong. This is a dilemma we all must face as animal lovers. Being aware of the possible longevity of your chi, she could still have a few years left in her yet. I'll just give you something to think about. My Mom's dog has had kidney problems since the age of one, she's now ten. She has often "lost control" in the house for many years. Overall she is a happy healthy dog. There are deaf and blind people who also do quite well. In regards to her nervous behaviour, It must be very difficult and confusing to be getting old, and be loosing some of your senses. There are medications you can get from your vet that may calm her nerves. It may help both of you, she will be more relaxed and you won't be as irritated. However if you think she's in too much pain, you might be doing her a favour if you proceed. Good luck!

It depends on the dog. If your dog is in obvious pain, the vet will also suggest to put her down to eliminate further suffering.

I had a rescue dog that went into the beginning stages of kidney failure. We switched to the vet suggested food to help it a little bit. But when the kidneys start to go, it usually doesn't take a long time. My Charlie got 6 more weeks before seizures set in and I had to have him put to sleep.

Considering the stage your dog is at and that you love her very much, I'd say make the best of what time she has left as I fear it won't be very long.

Like the others I wouldn't euthanize her unless she was suffering That's really sad that you'd want to do this because she irritates you!!!Nerves that makes her do what she does! Maybe your nerves is the reason this thought even came to mind!!!! Is there another family member that loves this little girl and would be willing to give her unconditional love and a new home for the remainder of her life? Good luck and I hope your heart leads you in the right direction on this one.

This is difficult really as she is old now and maybe suffering if she is in pain then the kindest thing will be to put her to sleep and stop her suffering but if she is still active then no this would be wrong of you because she irritates you is not a good enough reason to put her down she will also be missing your mom very much ever think of that????

If the dog is suffering, then have her put down. But if it's only because she is getting on your nerves, don't do it. That would be so wrong. Continue to love and care for this dog and make sure you are treating her the right way. All loving pets deserve to live out their last years in peace and comfort.

permit me see a canines who has been a great companion for 14 years, and taking 4 days to stablizie the Diabetes may be the existence or dying decision. properly i think of the canines merits 4 days to get issues below administration. there is not any longer something painful or terrible approximately diabetes that necesitates euthanasia over getting the canines on the right quantity of insulin. I had a diabetic cat for years, she had a astounding existence. existence itself is terminal. If the vet feels the canines could have some high quality time then with the help of all potential the canines ought to take delivery of the possibility.

I had this same problem a couple of years back, the accidents are normal just like people with age. Can the vet do something to make her more comfortable? If not you have to go with your gut feelings on this one. You love her and that is all that matters. If she is eating, and all the other normal things it is a hard decision.

I don't think you should put your mom's dog to sleep, she just wants some attention and love from you. After my cat Midnight died my other Minnie has gotten really friendly. Before hand she would have nothing to do with me and my sister, but now she is all over us. Minnie is also 17 1/2 years old.

I think you shouldn't... If guilt eats you up, it's a good indication. She's more than 17, and with beginning kidney failure her days are numbered and I think you should let her enjoy what she has left before she goes by herself.
