It's a good rule never to lend anyone money you can't afford to lose. Borrowing or lending money to/from friends is not a good idea. I'm sure you know that now.
Tell your friend you need that money and that you are expecting to get it back within a few days. If he doesn't pay you back, he's hardly a good friend. Don't let money ruin a good friendship though.

oh dear I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble have you try-ed speaking to your friend and explaining that you now need the money
failing that you can take them to a small claims court i think the amount of money in question has to under 500 Pound but it is a lot to go through

The one respondant who said "Dont lend money you cant afford to lose" has the best answer.

Never lend your mates money, unless you are the absolute last resort, and his life depends on it. And learn from this, never borrow money from anyone who might need it back before your able to pay. detb is the biggest source of argument, stress and depression of all.

you should assure him that when you gave it to him it was only because you intended for him to return it but also tell him you really need it asap
