OK. Is this hereditary? does anyone else in family have your type of build? if you answered no to either question. than you need to sweat it out when you exercise. today's young generation is the first that may not outlive their parents. And this is a sad thing,us parents what you to live a full and happy life. I do believe it is all due to type of passive entertainment being offered to children past decade or so. (like games used in the computer). to be thirteen again. taking long country bike rides. swimming at the favorite river hole. working in the summers on farms that really built a character in someone.
Find someone who will do weight lifting, or any active sport. Get out and explore what other kids are discovering is that there really is life and a whole world of things to get in shape. this did not mean to sound like a lecture,rather we adults are becoming more concerned with this epidemic.

Today there is too much information available on losing weight that has become more confusing and sometimes difficult to follow. It’s actually very easy to lose weight if you follow my weight loss tips.

* Be in right frame of mind
Before you can start any diet program you need to be in the right frame of mind. If you do not feel good about yourself you probably will not want to choose healthy foods. You cannot expect the act of going on a diet to make you feel better about yourself. The only way you can choose to eat a healthy diet to lose weight is if you have a positive self-image.

* Eat whole food
Top weight loss tips
Eat whole foods that are as natural as possible. When you eat whole foods that are full of nutrients your body will know how much to eat and how much not to eat. You do not have to count calories because your body is a wonderful machine.

* Eat fresh fruit
Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season.

* Drink enough water
Drink the best weight loss supplement known to man, water. Most people do not know the difference from being hungry for food or thirsty for water. A great deal of times people eat when they should drink. Most likely you will not feel as hungry if you are getting enough water. You will be satisfying the thirst, which is confused for hunger. Water also helps you digest food better. Drinking water before you eat will help fill you up.

* Always chew your food
Always chew your food well. Chewing your food well will ensure that you get the most nutrients out of your food. Getting the most nutrients will satisfy your body therefore you will eat less. Another benefit of chewing well is that it helps aid in digestion.

* Take small meals
Eat small, frequent meals in a day. Large meals tax your digestion system, making it work harder. Taking too much time in between meals makes you hungrier for the next meal.

* Include protein at meal
Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish, legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt.

* Shut off TV while eating
Shut off the TV whenever you eat – that includes meals and snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories!

* Increase your physical activity ( Cardio )
Increase your physical activity. Most people are over weight because of a lack of physical activity. Start walking more, bicycling, walks your dog for longer periods of time, swim, dance and leave the car at home when you can. It’s important that you choose a physical activity that you enjoy because you’ll stick with it.

*Weight training ( Light 5 to 10 lbs )
buy some dumbells that are 5-10 lbs and do some exercises with them. Search google: Dumbell exercises and you will see a bunch of useful links along with pictures and description on how to do it. When gaining weight but your doing everything correctly and see changes in your shape, that means you are building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat so dont be alarmed when that happens

As you are still under 18, it isn't a good idea to go on a diet as such as you are still growing. If you want help without going to, say a slimming club, you could ask your parents to take you to your GP or to see the practice nurse at your GPs surgery. At the age of 13 I think that you may be able to see the GP on your own without your parents in the room but they will need to be present at the start of the consultation. The GP and practice nurse will have experience in giving advice to people, children as well as adults, who wish to lose weight and can if necessary refer you to a dietician and other specialists. It is also free as it is provided by the NHS.

As for the losing weight around your thighs - I have the same problem as I also participate in martial arts (karate), you didn't say which you do but if you do something like taekwondo or kick boxing which involves a lot of legs you will find that it is difficult to lose weight from your thighs as you will have built up muscle to be able to execute the kicking techniques. It seems to me that you do a fair amount of "exercise" by walking to school as well as martial arts. Do you have a gym near you which offers fitness sessions for teenagers. Our local authority does sessions called "Freddy Fit" which as it is run by the council enables you to pay on a session by session basis and is cheaper that joining one of the health clubs. Try looking under leisure on your council's website.

You say you are 12 stone but don't say how tall you are so it may be that if you are overweight now you may be able to just grow into your weight. When you diet, don't cut out things like chocolate and biscuits because it will only make you want them more. When I am trying to lose weight, which isn't often these days - I tend to go by how my clothes fit as I am building muscle which weighs more than fat, I usually tell myself that if I am good for 4 or 5 days then I can have a small bar of chocolate on the other 2 or 3 days.

Your local library is full of information to help. Weight watchers material often crops up there--- and it makes good sense to follow their ideas even if you can not or do not want to get to a class. Furthemore there will be exercise books there too. Target that problem area.
Do not forget your GP, make him or her earn an honest buck , ask them for advise.
Meanwhile every time you think biscuit, cake, pastry make yourself run around the block, or at least a mile.

Sure... it's all about how you think about eating. There's a link to a psychology piece below that might help, but read it all because with my method, you can eat all you want and still lose weight....

Losing weight really is as simple as basic addition and subtraction. If the calories you eat add up to more than what you burn in a given time period, you will gain weight. Conversely, if you eat fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. Depending on your size and activity level, the number of calories will vary quite a bit. The secret is finding your “break even” calorie intake level. For most people, the “ball park” figure will be around 1800 to 2000 calories per day. If you are larger than average, this number will be higher, lower if you are smaller than average. Metabolic rate can have an effect on these numbers as well. Exercise plays an important role also, as this can increase the number of calories you burn by quite a bit as well as increasing your metabolic rate.

If you want a generally healthy diet that’s easy to follow and avoids hunger, the one I recommend will do the job very well. You can fill up and still lose weight. Eat lots of fresh vegetables as they contain very few calories yet are full of good nutrition. The less you cook them, the more nutrition they retain. Stick with whole grains, as they tend to be better for you and don’t turn to sugar as readily as processed grains do. For example, whole grain bread is much better for you than plain white bread. Eat a variety of fruit on a daily basis. Avoid empty carbs, fats, and sugars…. Examples: junk food and soda. If you feel you need protein to build muscle, add some chicken or fish to your diet. Avoid beef and dairy products, the cons outweigh the pros.

If you can’t get your mind into the ‘eat to live; don’t live to eat’ mode, you should probably read this short article on the psychology behind overeating:

on losing weight... try not to munch on those carbs.. try something good for your health.. like fruits... they're sweet anyhow.. well.. if you got the cash, ask a doctor for a prescription particularly on a medicine that would help you lose appetite.. so you won't have craving...

on your thighs... same as above try eating less on carbs... and if you don't want to run or jog.. go swimming.. at least once a week or you can lie down laterally and do some leg raise...well do it 3x a week... and remember.. less carbs... carbs when not used turn into fats...

every person is different, i dont know if this will work for you but you can give it a try... try drinking a lot of water especially before eating. Drinking a glass of water can make you feel full so you wont eat a lot. Drinking water also has lots of benefits- it can flush the toxins out of your body..
