My friend's hair color is a darker blonde, I guess what they call "dirty blonde." She has some nice natural highlights, but they don't show up very well. She was wanting to dye her hair brown and then get some lighter highlights. The stylist told her she would end up with green hair if she tries to dye her hair brown. I've never heard of this, I've known people who have gone brown and didn't end up with green hair. The only person I knew who ended up with green hair had actually gone a lighter blonde and then gone swimming (everyone started calling her Kermit, and the name stuck for years). Has anyone ever gone from blonde to brown? Did you end up with a greenish tint to your hair? Any tips on how she can change her hair color and add highlights?

i had my hair turn green from going blonde to brown but only because i used an "ash color" (light ash brown). i called my friend who was in beauty schooI at the time and she suggested using a "golden color" to fix it. i fixed it by using a light golden brown so maybe she should try that right from the begining.

i also suggest she gets a new hair stylist. anyone can dye their hair without having it turn green...you just have to know what your doing...~which i obviously didnt..but its not my profession either...so thats ok :)~. her hair stylist obviously dosnt know how to do her job!

anyways, just tell your friend to stay away from the "ash colors" when going light to dark and she should be fine! i hope i was able to help!!

That stylist is an idiot! Yeah the hair might turn green if it is not colored properly. If the hair is porous and has been colored it can turn green if you don't add a red filler with the brown. Your friend can have her hair colored brunette. That stylist just doesn't know what she is doing. This is axactly why I won't go to a salon any more and why my hair looks horrible right now, most stylist are not good.

My daughter is a natural blond that keeps her hair a light brown. She uses Nice & Easy home hair color with great results. The one time she used something else it didn't turn green, but it was purple!

I think it just depends on the colors. My stylist once told me that my hair had too much ash tone to it to dye it red. Get another opinion from a different sylist.

I'd go to hair salon and spend little extra instead of trying to do it myself and end up doing more and more crap to fix it. Yea your hair can get that greenish tint.

unlikely. her stylist must just think she looks better with blonde hair but doesn't know how to tell her.

it's all a matter of base. when you mix colors sometimes it happens . it's best to get a real professional to color your hair. It can be corrected
