Your answer should be in comparable wars where soviet made equipment was used against American. Iraq used top of the line Soviet weapons, and the Americans went thru them quite easily. I realize that the Russian weapons were manned by Iraqis, but in the first gulf war in the 90's not one American was killed in the M1A1 Abrams tank, while they destroyed over a thousand Russian built tanks. Also the American fighters and fighter bombers suffered very little loss at the hands of the Soviet Anti Aircraft weapons. Again the Iraqi Army was manning the weapons so they may not have gotten the full effectivness. There has been many conflicts in the middle east with the opposing sides using Russian and American weapons, and as far as I can find the Americans have come out on top. The Russian MIG 31 was the closest to equal I could find.
In small arms the AK47 is a much more durable and reliable weapon than the M-16, but is not as accurate at a distance

Generally best is hard to define. Not only were the weapons different but so were the tactics. Generally speaking Soviet and Russian weapons were simpler, more rugged and easily mass produced while American weapons were hi-er tech. The AK-47 is generally held up as an example of a superior weapon in terms of reliability and ammo (7.62) but the M16 had a better range.
The Gulf War really showcased NATO weaponry. Although the US was fighting a demoralized Iraqi Army with "export" heavy weapon systems, the major Army weapons systems (MLRS, M1, Bradley, and Apache) completely outclassed anything the Iraqis had.
I can't speak on naval weaponry and aircraft

In 1967 and again in 1973 massive Arab armies attacked Israel using the best Russian weapons available. Look how well that worked out for them.
Maybe it isn't the weapon that counts. Maybe it's the guy on the working end of it that really matters.

difficulty a million: With Nukes Russia might probable launch first, in view that u . s . of america needs to bypass each and all the Senate and President to launch. All Medvedev has to do is push the button. Russia nevertheless has over 7,000 nuclear missiles, 5,000 tactical nuclear weapons, and 70,000 different nuclear units energetic, all able to reaching the full U.S. in a hour. we'd be screwed particularly basic. do no longer even choose China! Russia Victory difficulty 2: devoid of Nukes. Russia and China might might desire to take a sea/air strike. shifting a great military via land is impossible, even attempting to hoof it to Alaska and swing down by Canada. on the sea/air strike, in the event that they by some ability have the flexibility to cellular their troops, shield aspects, even grant their troops, yeah, they might wreck by, yet doubtfully. they might have the flexibility to take over U.S., yet no longer for long. Russia & China Victory short term. US victory long term. difficulty 3: controlled Nukes Russia bombs u . s . of america, then sweeps in to freshen up and lay declare. important American cities will easily be decimated, agriculture aspects would be prevented, and occasional inhabitants aspects will probable exchange into slave camps. as quickly as returned, China's pointless Russia actual to difficulty 2 & 3 U.S. might win. we've the greater army and airforce, the extra stepped forward tech, and mules. look it up; the U.S. has never lost a conflict related to mules. Yeah, mules. Russia and China might have the biggest militia blended, yet they have not got the economic device, aspects, no longer to show means for mobilization against the U.S.

Well as previously said you need to compare tech in the same period of time and where they have fought each other.
Now in the Gulf War (thats Iraq War 1) The Iraqi's used Soviet Tech as evident in the first source VS the US equipment in source 1
The current Equipment for Russia is shown in source 2
The current equipment for USA is shown in source 3
So irish1269, who do you think are better trained?

the US has better weapons eccept when your comparing the m-16 to the ak-47. The ak-47 is nothing new and is still one of the greatest and most dependable firearms to date.

I think that this should be obvious. What good is a weapon without the skill of the operator using it? Guns don't kill people, soldiers do.
